I never thought of the compression forces. Would it be beneficial to make all horizontal bars out of the 1.5"? That would be just as easy to do.

Probably not needed unless that Volvo motor is a real "Boat Anchor". The usual Locost frame is overbuilt compared to the frames that lotus had built for their cars.

I know its been forever!!! Finally got started on my frame. Decided on a 442e and got a good portion of it welded up last weekend. I will add some pick as soon as i get them on my laptop. Right now im on the hunt for drivetrain parts. The plan is to still use the Volvo T5 engine mated to a WC t5 trans. Will be using 4wd s10 rear and 2wd s10 front parts with home built a-arms.
