Hello everyone.
It's been 14 years since I started this, but here is a video of the first start:
https://drive.google.com/open?id=1YMj4q ... XoBfH4NNUh

details: Toyota 4AGE 1.6 liter engine, carbs from a Suzuki GSXR sport bike, W58 transmission from a Supra, diff from a AE86 Corolla GTS with torsen limited slip. titanium muffler from a Yamaha R1 sport bike.

Many thanks to the listers that posted all of your great ideas for me to shamelessly copy.
cheers
Doug

Looking good Doug-
What kind of a muffler is that?
Cheers,
Roy

Thanks for posting the video - I'm using exactly the same muffler on my 2-liter Zetec engine, with 2 1/2" exhaust, and had no idea what it's going to sound like. Now, I know! Not bad...not bad at all!

thanks everyone.
To be precise, the frame hung from my garage ceiling for 6 years. (2004 to 2010). Then I spent one winter of spare time on it before I bought an old Jag, so the Locost got put on the back burner again for a few years.

Roy, the muffler is titanium, and was a new takeoff from a Yamaha R1 sportbike. Those guys like to replace their mufflers with carbon fiber, so it was essentially new, $50 plus shipping from Ebay. My friend Don used one on his Locost, with a 20 valve Toyota 4AGE, so I knew already what his sounded like. By the way, the engine was still cold when we took the video, and it revs a lot better when warmed up.
cheers
Doug

Nice job Doug
That muffler does an excellent job on what is usually a pretty loud exhaust. What ECU are you using?

Good job. Interestingly as carburetors prove themselves on the road. Is the main fuel jet enough? or will it be poured? We put similar, it was necessary to tinker.

Hi Perry
Yes, we should do another garage meet, but I will be on the east coast until Sept. 23. Possibly soon after that?

Dave, the ECU is called Nodiz from the UK. It uses a trigger wheel, and a Hall effect sensor from a Ford Escort. It is Bluetooth equipped so you can monitor or program from your phone or computer.

Dave, question for you, what did you use for the radiator fan switch on your 4AGE?

The carbs are from a Suzuki GSXR, and I've changed the main jets to 1.5 mm per advice from http://danstengineering.co.uk/

cheers
Doug

[Dave, question for you, what did you use for the radiator fan switch on your 4AGE?]

I first used a VW thermos switch, that originally went off at 190* [engine ran around 195*-198*]
I now have a Summit Racing thermos control switch P/N SUM 890018 Zirgo temp switch ($23.95). Zirgo is on at 200* and off at 180* controlling a 12" flex lite fan thru a 15 amp relay. This switch is screwed into the rear head outlet where the stock 4AGE had a thermo vacuum switch located above the heater hose connection. See picture, the thermos switch just below top heater hose. The water outlet casting is a slightly modified GTS part on a MR-2 engine.

My 4AGE engine likes running at the lower temp. The engine normally runs about 186* now.

Hello everyone.
Here's a photo of my almost finished 7. I had it licenced last summer, but over the winter I built to hood and painted the nose and fenders.
Currently building an aluminum trunk cover and lid. The tricky part it to miss the rear members of the roll bar, but I think I have it figured out.
cheers
Doug
