From a quick google, should drop you nearly 100lbs off the nose?

Similar weight from what I can tell (both around 450lbs), will make some rough measurements before and after. Being Inline I expect weight to move forward slightly, turbos on the passenger side might be a benefit to offset the driver.

Quick search showed 1UZ in the mid 400s & a non-turbo 2JZ in the 300s
Probably a lot more aftermarket support on the 2JZ, should you need parts.

Internet engine weights are always a nightmare of differing methods and misinformation. A lot of people also fall victim to the more cylinders = heavier misconception. The 2J is an iron block and the 1UZ is aluminum, which is going to be a significant weight difference, more than making up for a couple of extra pistons and rods.

BEST CASE scenario it's break even, but I'd expect with no other changes that a 2J would add 50-100lbs.

At last you know you're safe well into the 1k HP territory with the 2J
Featherweight car + massive power, what could go wrong

If the cars within 100lbs of its current weight ill be satisfied, stock twins will get to my power goal and are cheap but a single turbo would weigh less. Also looking forward to have a little more engine bay room for reinforcement

This is a flawed weighing method however it still gives a ballpark idea. Each corner was weighed twice and averaged. (Each wheel being blocked to the same height as the "measuring device")

Currently at 2244lbs and 50/50 distribution, 51% cross, and a slight rear bias when the driver and 20gal fuel tank is considered.

Decided the rear end was too wide, trimmed 2" off each fender to match the front ends width (rear is still 1/2" wider)

Big improvement visually, with the rear end being a little thinner the car dosent look so goofy from the rear. The next step to this project is shortening the axles, I'm thinking I'll install the Ford 8.8 unit with the LSD while I'm at it.

2jz is sitting in the car for mockup but no progress yet, needing to find time

Wow, was just thinking about this thread last week & wondering where it was in progress. Looks great!

Apologies for the quality, they're just my ramblings of the build process

Half way into bodyworking the hood, everything is bending together nicely, there's definitely a bit much in terms of filler but the body is going to present very well in the end. I'll definitely think of pulling a fiberglass/ carbon skin off the panel in the future.

Floor panel made up, hoping it'll act as a diffuser however I'm not sure adding the strakes along the sides is worthwhile sense it dosent match visually.

Taillamp surrounds finally took shape, tacked them together to see the results but I've yet to decide how the taillamps will be mounted. Either the lamp surrounds need to come off as once peice so the light can be removed towards the rear of the vehicle, or they need to be accessible from the trunk, which will require reworking the taillamp mounts and trunk panels.
