When I look at a weather forecast now days, there's always a "feels like" temperature right next to the actual, observed one. I think that's what we're talking about here. It's going to "feel like" it has a HP gain of XX HP because of increased HP/Wt. ratio. That's really going to apply mostly to acceleration. Cornering "power" will be up even more due to light weight, I suspect.

Cheers,

Simple Green on steroids, I like it better than Purple Power.

Wear gloves, it takes all the oil out of your skin, your hands will dry and crack.

So, I clicked on the link and read through the details on the cleaner, then at the bottom of the page saw that there was a promotion for "Bosch Mass Air Flow Sensor Part # 0280218012". Well, that's interesting I said to myself. That's the exact MAF that I had been researching on the web about 2 weeks ago, but I've never been on the O'Reilly site before. Obviously someone/something has been crawling through my computer making notes about my browsing and then distributing the information and they're keeping that information for a good while too. Unless it's a coincidence and everyone that clicks that link gets an ad for a Bosch MAF. Spooky....I feel violated, like I need to shower with Super Clean!

No specials show up for me when I click on that link.

However.......... You should feel violated. If you are using google or most any other browser, They do track your searches and sell that data to advertisers. The creepy part is, I have had those targeted adverts show up when somebody (me or wife) was just talking about product "x" and a few days later, I see adds for product "x". Maybe it was just a coincidence? I don't think so.

As far as anything on the 'net is concerned. If you aren't paying for the product (i.e. Google), you are the product!

Yes we are being watched, just think, those satellites up there can read news print at ground level. Knowing this I don't walk around buck naked outside anymore.

In the shop today for a bit. So.... I've approached this build a bit differently. I'm cleaning, rebuilding, re-sealing all the major components before I start cutting steel and gluing it together. This way I'm not working with oil, dirt, grime, slime covered parts when fitting them to the frame.
Finished up with the transmission today.

That snow looks pretty, but I'm glad I don't have to deal with it.

We did get 2 days of rain, however.

Cheers,

Takes a whole lot of rain before it gets as annoying as 4" of snow.

Don't have to shovel rain. :D

Indeed it does, and I, for one, am content to admire it from afar.

Moved here (Shoreline, WA) in 2011 from Omaha,NE. Shoveled snow once since. Did a lot od snow removal in Omaha. Sometimes several times in one night. The deeper you let it get the harder it was to shovel.

Rains a lot here. Never had a problem with that. But do have to admit the snow covered trees and hills are very picturesque.

@benny_toe
I could tell you a few interesting war stories about snow in Seattle, Larry. Like the night I spent in a Denny's out on Interstate 90 in Bellevue because I5, I90 and I405 were all shut down with cars busses and big rigs all over the place and lined up, stuck in the snow, for miles.

You've been lucky.

Cheers,

Growing up in Los Angeles, snow was always sumpthin' that you drove to go see. The last 10-12 years that I was in California, I lived in Apple Valley which was about 3200' above sea level. Snow was an occasional occurrence, but never more than about 6", and it would be gone in a few days. My move to the Missouri Ozarks 15 years ago had me a bit concerned, but it turned out to be on an even par with Apple Valley. On average, we only see snow every other year. The most I've ever seen here was about 8", and it was gone in a few days. As an added plus, a snow covered evergreen forest is much more impressive and picturesque than a snow covered Joshua tree!!!

Ha Ha Ha, growing up in Alberta snow is always something you want to drive away from!
Last winter in Palm Springs there was a fairly decent dump of snow at Joshua Tree and Twenty Nine Palms. Some friends of ours that were in our RV Park drove up to see Joshua Tree State Park the day after the snow fall. They came back and said there were cars and cars and cars parked along the side of the roads and people out walking and playing in the snow building snow men. Said there was even people shovelling snow into the back of their truck to take home. We of course found this very amusing.

Been waiting patiently and this afternoon my camshaft and cam bearings arrived :yay: I realize this is boring updates because I'm not cutting and glueing steel yet, but rebuilding an engine gives me great satisfaction and is relaxing.
Blew the dust off my cam bearing install tool and installed the bearings. Installed camshaft, rotates nice and easy.

Installed oil gallery plugs. Installed main bearings and 1/2 rear seal. Washed and installed crank. Plastigaged the mains, all four at .002". Reinstalled main caps, set the thrust bearing, then tightened the caps. Endplay .005", within spec.

I agree 110%. Putting an engine back together, with both new and inspected/cleaned parts is therapeutic. Much more so than working on oily part attached to a hunk of iron. The end result is more rewarding too. I can wait for the gluing of steel tubes. That time will come. In the mean time, keep us up to date with the rebuild.
