It is quite interesting that we all think carefully about rollover, which rarely happens, but don't really think at all about the all too common t-bone and front end collision.

This reminds me, don't tailgate semi's. That under-ride bar doesn't stop anything!

What would you expect? It's designed and mandated by the government! :BH:

I guess to be fair, as long as we have significant frame that is high enough to engage it, the under-ride will stop a Locost much more effectively than a 2 ton road yacht.

No it is not. It is mandated by the gov't, but designed by the manufacturer. The problem is not with the mandate, but the design. The sad part is that good designs are available. Some people think that designing things that meet the reg but defeat the purpose is their greatest possible achievement.

That is why regs get such stupid inflexible language.

Pardon the unrelated tangent, but you all might get a kick out of this. In two weeks, I expect to be crash landing into the Ohio River.

Dave, My man! I love it. Are you the pilot? That is a lot of work!

I know. I built a 8ft x 20 ft x 12 ft tall cardboard boat and raced it once. It held 6 adults or 4 adults and 3 kids. I planned on a cardboard seaplane and flying it for the next year's competition. That never happened.

Good luck and bring videos

Yes, I was the pilot and main instigator behind the build, along with an AWESOME team from Kre8Now Makerspace -- http://www.Kre8Now.com We schemed for half a year, but really built it in about two weeks. Longest flight of the day, and and longest flight of the year for all FlugTag contests!

We're already working out how to do even better next year. Here's the fateful launch of my first gear-up water landing:

David, thank-you, thank-you, thank-you for your efforts in getting the Forum restored and available to all of us again. I really, really appreciate it.....I realized during "The Dark Weeks" just how much I enjoyed following everyone's exploits on here.

Now, what can we all do to help you to help make the Forum bulletproof in the future?

Bill
