This evening I finished the rearend. Installed coilovers. This is the rear axle from an Alfa Romeo Spider. Coilovers are QA1.

Wow, you are really coming along. Diff looks great. Good and light. What ratio is it? Do you think it will be ready for Branson? Russ

Why is the tube above the diff raised up? You're losing a lot of strength the way you've got it.

I'm guessing because it is a live axle and it will be moving around a lot and might hit it.

He could always put some triangulations from the cut tube up to the raised tube at about a 45 degree angle and shore it up. Although it is probably stiffer than mine as it sits.

I'd suggest gusseting the area... should help a bit.

I moved that tube up for clearance. It will be strengthened.

I'm sorry Tom, I was so focused on answering Dave's question I forgot to say, "good job." Looks like you are really making some good progress. Did you have those wheel adapters custom made?

Yea, the spacers were provided by Serpent Auto Sport. Thanks for the encouraging words. As soon as parts arrive from Kinetic I am going to get started on the front suspension. I am currently struggling with wishbone.

Well I got all my parts back from the machine shop today. I was progressing at lightspeed, getting right side suspension bolted together. Decided to cut some 2" sq. tubing in order to make a lower shock mount. I was using a die grinder with a cutoff wheel to cut off one side of the tubing when I screwed up. The die grinder grabbed and twisted in my hand and fell to the floor. I ended up with a lacerated and broken left pinky. The Doctor says it should be treated as a compound fracture, so I got a shot of anti-biotics in the a**, and a Tetanus in the arm. I think my a** hurts more than my finger. Hopefully I can still get this thing on its wheels this weekend.

OUCH! I've been lucky enough to avoid injury in similar situations, but it very easily could have happenned to me too. I feel for you. I wear heavy leather work gloves whenever I run one of those and I think that has helped save me a few times.

So are they going to pin it straight?
