Steve,

Can you elaborate. I know your into the European Fords, I saw you and Fourthmeal chatting about his Capri.

My information was based on what I read on Wikipedia. I've never lived in England, nor have I ever owned a european spec Ford. But I do have some of their drive-line components sitting in my garage.

I see that you have some parts of my second favorite vehicle... As for the differences between the
Lima(2.3L) and the Pinto(2.0L EAO), the size and weight of them is different, the "Pinto" weighs about 286lbs,
and is 23.5" long, 24" wide including the manifolds, and about 26" tall, while the "Lima" weighs anywhere
from 328lbs to 418lbs, depending on whose scale you're trusting. Unfortunately, I don't have any outside
dimensions for it.

The power output for each engine is close, but the later the Lima, the less power they had, I thing in the 90hp range
when it was all said and done. I'm talking about the carbed versions though. Also the Lima has hydraulically
operated lash adjusters, where the Pinto is mechanical...

My '74 2.0L EAO Capri is not stock and I'm putting about 130hp to the ground...

IIRC the Lima is a little taller than the Pinto engine. I know the block is about 1/4" taller on the 2.3L, but I don't recall how much taller overall.

You may want to look into one of the 40bob forward facing intake manifolds, especially if you are getting rid of the power steering. The forward facing intake (inline or just the upper) are a bit lower profile and will allow for a little more hood clearance. You'd have to run a different style intercooler though.

I'm pretty sure the Volvo DOHC head is lower profile, but you'd have to make up and intake and exhaust manifold. Not exactly low-cost, but it would reduce the weight.

A quick update. I got the rear end out of the car. I'm not going to use it for the build though. As of Saturday night, I've removed the last parts from the donor. Scrap yard look out!

Steve And WhiteLX,

Thanks for th replies and additional info on the Ford Four cylinders (Pinto and Lima). Sounds like I'm not totally hosed on the exterior dimensions, but I'll need to confirm. After Christmas, I should have some garage time, and be able to really get some good measurements of the engine. I'll post my finding briefly here, and in depth over in the engine/donor thread forum.

Thanks.

Indy "prepare the tape measure" Joe

For sure. The first thing I noticed is your son's greasy hands. You must be proud. :) I'll never forget my 5 year old's reaction when he discovered he could pick up a car with a jack. Priceless stuff indeed. Enjoy!
