MYTF's Haynes V6 RX-7 build

Hello from Pollock Pines, California.
I wanted to introduce myself and give a quick rundown on my build so far.
I haven't done a lot in this field before (considering my age) but a quick run through would include; rebuilding a couple V8's, buying and fixing a "59" sprite with the engine in pieces, took two wrecked Fiaros and welded them together to get one, assorted work on various Fiestas. I also have most of the tools required to build a car and have always liked the Lotus philosophy and cars.
I started my build the first of the year but am working out of town and things are progressing slowly.

I'm following the (new) book for as much as possible just changing a few things to make it fit the drive train and me. the tunnel has been moved to the right and narrowed, I am raising the rear 1" with the use of 1x2 tubing and the rear is redesigned to fit the various pickups.

Thanks I have actually gotten a little farther but things have slowed down working on the rear. At work found two hood supports from an old dozer with a nice radius that I will use for the corners.

I'm going to try to finish up the rear today and move on to the tunnel. I have held off on buying my engine till I can install and start it within 30 days as it will be from a wrecking yard and I want the option of returning it. I will try to get some more pictures ported later today.

Okay, I guess it must be me that points out the obvious - RX7s are rotary powered, not V6
Which V6 are you dropping in there?

At this time i am looking to mate a mazda KD v6 to the RX-7 transmission like JOYFUL NOISE RACING did. The rotary Had sat rusting away to long before I bought the car for $100 and as I have no experience with the engine. I decided to go with something more conventional.

Very nice attention to a minor design detail with the upper rear tube .
It does curve down slightly yet most folks build it straight.
I intend to curve it down the same way.

Thank you yes I actually have the sides curving up to the center of the wheel then down slightly to the rear. I also raised the seat bulkhead by using a 1X2 at the top.

Yes, and to get the full effect you'll need the curves in front of the wheel made out of a round tube and a bit larger than the fender .
That's the part that I got in currently (I have not build anything behind the rear bulkhead yet).

Yes I intend to use 1" round tubing in front and have the same for the cockpit sills.

Thanks, I've never been one to talk online (just like to lurk) but you guys have inspired me. I have to make a trip down the hill and pickup some 1/8" steel today as I dug out what I was going to use and found it was 3/16" and 1/4" which seems to thick for all the brackets and plates. Any thoughts?
