Looks cool. How I'd love to have that shop space AND a garage too.

Good luck on your new build - your house!

Cheers,

Thanks Lonnie

Getting started is taking forever as I'm trying to get all the county paper work though. The wife and I took a bike ride though the neighborhood the other day and found three guys working on restoring old cars and or hotrods. One guy has a cord and a old Fiat convertible that bertone (is that the way it's spelled) made 36 of, his is number 18. Makes me want to get the shop built all the more now.

Ah ha! You have a built-in support group AND maybe an occasional extra set of hands to help out when working on those big awkward things?

Cheers,

Lonnie

Yo!
The house and the neighborhood sound fantastic, Sir! Congrats!
A 289 and a TR7... Sounds like a BAD idea... I'd DO IT!!!

Yes I'm still alive. I wanted to update my building progress. The car still sits at the back of the property under a tarp but the Shop/Apartment is finally going up.

Hey! It's good to hear from you, again. I have thought about you numerous times and hoped your move to Nevada didn't ignite a gambling and drinking addiction.

That is one impressive slab. Hopefully, all will be done in time for you to restart on your Locost this winter. Do keep us updated. Congratulations on the retirement. You're going to find yourself real busy now.

Best,

Lonnie

And I thought I had it good with a 1200 square ft. mancave! That is gonna rock! I see you did the radiant heating like I did. Probably the single best decision I made when building. Nothing like laying on the floor to work on something when it's about 80 deg. F coming from the floor. I don't know if you have worked with radiant before, but if not you will find that it is comfortable in the building at around 60 to 65 degrees in a tee shirt or sweatshirt. Makes it a real pleasure to work on stuff when it's cold outside.

I'm still here and have been working to get this building started for over a year and it is nice to get started. I have worked harder since retirement then I have in years.

That looks awesome! I briefly considered doing something similar.

Are the studs sunk in the concrete while its poured?

Cool, my last place had in floor heat in the garage too, and it was great. When I finally build a shop at my new place, I want to do the same thing. I'll probably be using a wood fired boiler instead of solar though.

Very cool pictures! And it's good to know things are going well for you in Reno. Building pics look great, that's gonna be an amazing shop... Congrats!

Thanks guys, Doing most everything myself it's going to be slow. The anchor bolts were placed before the concrete was poured. That brings up one of my screwups. I set the anchor bolts for the two corner post 1 1/2" to close the the center line (still not sure how) and had to cut them off and drill holes to epoxy all thread. Of course this requires a special inspection and I'm waiting for that on Monday.

And now oval tube!!! Between your fab and Engine turning on the dash. This is a slick build. I have for 2 yrs eyed up oval Chrome steel for A arms thinking how cool they would be. I haven't even gotten to page 20 yet.
