Looks good. Is there a lens integral to the cluster or will you be adding a flat piece on the outside?

Looks like it will be a very handsome car!!!! MG or Volvo P1800 gauges would look good.
P1800 gauges are a bit big but really nice. I'm using MG gauges but my buddy has P1800
in his Votus.

You can't see it (a good thing) but the plastic is already in front of the gauges. I cut the original face off as it was curved and the bottom stuck out to far then picked up a piece from TAP plastics and glued it on.

The gauges are from a MG and I think will look good on the car. I was in a quandary about the styling for awhile, and wanted a '60s' car then I would see a modern interpitation (?) and want to go that way. Then I came to realize if I added a few traditional features with the newer ones it would look OK.

Little more done.
Got the top of the tunnel made just have to go down the hill and pickup some trim screws to hold the top down.


Had to make a couple covers for the differential


The back bulkhead is going to be stainless but I am going to rivet it on instead of welding so I can paint the rear area.

I spent some time on a few things. I got the lower belt mounts in and made an adjustable spare tire license plate mount.



I'm pretty happy about my rear panel. I was concerned as I am using stainless steel and didn't know if I would be able to get the corners to lay down so I used a piece of scrap and by going slow and using a soft faced hammer I think they turned out OK and with a little filing will look good.

Here I just started to fold. The edge is rough because I trimmed a little off so it doesn't lay over the weld on the plate.

Not much going on. Spent some time modifying the stock pedals for floor mount and dropped them by a friend's house to TIG weld.




Then finally welded up the front of the shuttle. Built a another shelf to store all the panels and got the left hand side cut and set.



I also found out that the engine I bought is a High output Japanese 199hp variant instead of the 165hp US version that I thought I payed $50 to much for so that makes me happy.

I know that I am late in saying this, but I really like how you did your spare tire carrier. It will be really nice to be able to remove the rack if needed.

My post is quite late in the game .... but with respect to your concerns that the engine turned dash might be too bright.

If you find that it is brighter than you like, I would encourage you not to completely hide all of the fantastic work you've done. You could maybe take the edge off by covering sections with contoured pieces of smoked lexan or something like that. Heck, I'd even consider window tinting film or some other coating .... just something that takes the brightness down without hiding the engine turned finish you've created.

Keep up the good work, your build is looking fantastic.

The Dash is made from stainless steel and as such is not as bright as aluminum so the more I look at it the more I think it will be OK. I'll also just have to not drive west in the morning and east in the afternoon, think about it

Not to much happening. I tried forming the upper sides over the round tubing but the stainless is just to hard to form around that piece.


I am now working on finishing the fire wall. The aluminum I have is ether to thick or to thin so I am sandwiching a piece of foam board with to pieces of aluminum.

I'm using contact cement and coating all inside surfaces, it is not bonding the two aluminum panels very well but they will be fastened mechanically with screws or rivets so i'm not to concerned.
