The problem is the difference in location of the shifter on the S-10 compared to the Camaro. (See previous pics) The way the S-10 location is shaped, you can't do the necessary modifications to that side.

Finally got the engine where I can touch it witout wearing a rubber suit. I guess the next step is to mate the engine and tranny and establish a mounting location. I'll be glad to get back to fabricating instead of cleaning. That nasty tbi manifold is still on there. It won't come off until I find something to take it's place.

Pretty!

Nothing wrong with TBI though.

That is a nice compact bellhousing/slave setup.

I believe you can remove the oil filter adapter and screw the filter straight on if you wish.

I'm just not a FI guy. When things go South, I like to have a short check list. As far as cleaning....it's photogenic but far from hygienic. I plan to run 2-3 oil changes with Sea Foam to cut some of the gunk inside. It looked pretty bad. I didn't want to get too far into it because if I'm going to do an overhaul, I'm going to find a 3.4 Camaro motor. It's got one wet exhaust port and I'm hoping Sea Foam might free up the rings and valve guides. If not, I'll just drive it until I can get something bigger and better put together.

WOW, I just realized I haven't posted any progress for a month. I've been working but not on things that are worthy of much bandwidth. I've got trailing arm brackets almost cut out. They're cut out but still rough. Got the old brackets off of the rear axle, (no easy job). I've had two or three stints at finish welding. I had a buddy come over last week and we spent several hours just messing around. Sure is a lot easier throwing an axle around when you've got a guy on both ends. I cut the top part of the rear off. I didn't like the way I did it and the pipe I used for the radii looked real crappy. The aluminum would have covered it but I would have known it was there.

This is the last week of school and I've been hopping, trying to get all of my grandkid's programs and functions taken care of. Seems like it's always something. After school is out and they start sleeping until noon I'll get some work done.

I think I'm going through jdgar's town tomorrow. I hope I get a chance to stop by and see his build. Dust your seat off Joe, I really want to set in a Seven.

I haven't had much to post or take pictures of lately. I've got the trailing arm brackets ready to weld on, I have the chassis brackets and I'm just waiting on supplies. I've got the rod ends and bungs ordered. Might be here tomorrow. I'm waiting on a vender from Ebay to get back with me. As soon as he contacts me I'm ordering two 05 R6 shocks. When that stuff arrives I can start seeing some tangible progress. Of course I have most of the frame put together, but I want to see some moving parts. I might get a good dose of work done this weekend.

I know what you mean, trying to post pictures that may be of interest to people is kind of difficult, some find them interesting, some may find them boring.
I guess that is the benefit of the build site, you can post what ever you want and though it may not be of interest to many current people, it could be of interest to others further down the road, or even members who have yet to join the forum.
In that regards all pictures posted have value.
Al

Al,

Been meaning to ask you...did you have to do any sizing or reaming on your spindles to use the 722 ball joints? I don't think you said in your log.. I'm hoping they fit. I've seen reamers being passed around on the forum here. That tells me they are hard to find without buying one and I sure don't want to buy one.

It shouldn't need it with that ball joint and spindle, when I ordered my parts from Speedway I did double check anyway and they also said it would not be required.
As far as mine go they fit fine and I didn't do it.
Al

Can't use a rod end. The longitudinal shaft must rotate when the shifter is tilted laterally. A clevis would work.

Had to blink twice and look again, but you are right, it will navigate the fore and aft but not the side to side.

OK, I concede...I've had a couple learned builders on here tell me that the short S-10 axle wouldn't work on a 442 frame. Well, since it was free and I'm such a tight ass, I said "sure I can make it work". Well, after careful consideration, I'm throwing in the towel on this one and looking for something in the 60" range. I'm open to suggestions... it can be Ford or Chevy because I'm using Pinto spindles and I haven't purchased rotors yet. The S-10 axle is 54" wms and as you can see, it would probably work, but I'd need 3" spacers and wheels from a sprint car.

On a happier note, look how pretty these $29 shocks are.
