FINALLY!!!!!

I've waited 2 years for someone to do an ecotec build. You need to start a build log here.
Those 600 Racing uprights look good.
Have you decided on the turbo system for your le-5? Tell me more!

hi going to start with a cheap turbo off ebay, will limit to a 9lb boost.. for now i will keep the stock compression, head gasket, head studs.
not sure how i am going to handle the vvt yet, might just use 2 or more stages. as megasquirt cant handle full control yet.
the 600 racing spindles are very nice, cheap too.

The build looks great. Any Idea how much power you think the ecotech will make on 9 psi?

Do you have any more info on those 600 racing uprights like kpi, ball joint to ball joint distance, can you squeeze them in 13" wheels without ending up with a crazy scrub radius? They look perfect.

Thanks,
Rory

That thing will be a rocket ship with that much go. I've seen a few turbo ecotechs used in offroad stuff but not in a locost. Looks like is going to be one fast car. I will keep an eye on your progress. If you have got the data on those uprights, I bet a lot of people would want to see it in the upright picks and measurements thread http://www.locostusa.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=1292.

From the look of the upright/steering arm it appears you could easily make it a front or rear steer plus by changing the length of the arm change the steering "ratio" or effort a little.

For whatever reason all I get with the link in the first page is a huge picture and a list of some other pictures with no write up.

I thought I'd find info on those uprights on your other site, but alas and alack I got nothing so do you have any links to tell me where you got them, etc.?

guess i am to busy building and taking pictures. i will try to get rid of that big picture in the link. you can see those spindles at( 600racing), look at legend cars. the steering arms can be reversed. but no Ackerman as a rear steer.
tuesday i wll post up the spects. legend cars do use 13 inch wheels.

that is a rockauto.com,, ,,, chevette rebuilt power rack ,, $65.00 .. got maxi ball joints there too, 5 days from England, under $35.00 total. going to depower it soon.. with wishbone i fooled with the facts till i got it to fit without any mods, you can see rather solid mounts. the chevette rack would be very slow with other steering arms.

the 600 racing front spindles , according to wishbone the installed kpi is 7.3 ..
its 8.25 inches between ball joint centers. i did ream the ball joint mounting holes some . i am going with 25 inch total tires.

to depower a steering rack, you remove all the seals and valves , has less internal drag then. and the ratio is quicker than a non power unit. there are lots of bargains out there, just gota look.
