Steering rack looks good, did you have to shorten it any?

nope, i designed the the control arms around the rack dimensions , i am using very short steering arms so the steering will be fast enough. i did put in 1 inch stops to limit the max steering angle.

Nice work Rad. You wouldn't remember me, but you saved my ass at the track during a COM club event, maybe almost 30 years ago. The brakes on my Fiesta failed, and the front end got all pushed in. People said it was a goner and I was pretty bummed out, trying to find a ride back to town. You stepped forward with a sledge hammer and porta-power jack and hammered that back into something resembling a car - which I drove for a few weeks before getting it repaired.

Best of luck with this build, think we'll see you up at the track? Some of the old timers are starting to show up again...

Hi Rad, sorry for the long wait, I lost my first reply. I've just entered a couple of events over the last 20 years, but am hoping to go for the season this year. http://www.comscc.org/ is doing well and they also have events in Canada, New York and New Jersey this year. One of the club officers has a Miata based Locost, so I am sure you would be very welcome.

I see you did go for the 600 Racing spindles. Would love to hear what you think about them and if you could take a moment and you like them, perhaps you could adds some comments to the upright thread. http://locostusa.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=1292

I've looked at those and also the Wilwood Mustang II units. I love the idea of trying to use some circle track stuff because they have so much available, but mostly it just doesn't work....

Those look like some short uprights. What size wheels are you using? I saw 25" tires... I'd like to run 13" rims and slicks, maybe those brakes are big but it looks like the spindles would fit, what do you think? I think the Legends have 13" rims, but don't remember...

Found this racing parts fab shop in Oregon.
He is producing some new FWD hub designs in a month for up to 2500lb. and up to 1250lb. cars.
The lightweight upright version will use Golf III bearings , Ducati 1098 center-lock-pin-drive hubs and Brembo calipers.
