Hi All:

The Locost XV body is still at the painters. I had a lot of problems with fitment of the rear clamshell. Mostly because I believe the mold pulled in a little after the maker took it off the car, but also because the bodywork wasn't symmetrical left to right. I may have made it worse when I widened the body.

In any case, it has been getting slowly but noticeably better with every week it is there, (and every check I write!!).
I don't want to cheap out at this point, just because it is someone else laboring on it than me.

Here are a few photos....

Photos of the "million dollar paint job".

I am really pumped, and eager to get this thing back so I can finish it up!

Mark, everywhere I look in that photo, I see green bits of Lotus. Looking great! I bet you can't wait.

Do you plan on yellow stripes?

I totally agree with Photoman, in concept... but I'm just not sure about a grown-up using the word "Lotusie"...

Car looks great! That's really a good interpretation of BRG, looks good!

A noted Lotus race car restorer once told me, "Find the shade you like best, paint the car, and tell everyone that THIS IS BRITISH RACING GREEN". This color is known by Dupont as Conifer/Triumph Racing Green, and looks right to my eyes.

I have seen "real BRG" race cars vary from Kelly Green to Almost Black....

I plan to wait on the yellow until I see the car completely in color. My wife is against the lipstick ring around the nose but I may try a tasteful center stripe.

I have an Indian Princess campout with my daugthers that weekend, but My plan was to have the car there, right up until I heard realized I had a conflict. Now I am setting my sights on the Historic Races at Road America.

No problem. Family time is way more important than these toys we play with. Maybe next year. Russ

Yes. That's because there is no certain color that is real BRG. Back in the day when each country had a racing color, Italy was red GB was green etc. They didn't specify the shade. If they did, how would one know if it was right. You would have to have something like a reflection densi  tometer to measure the wavelength of light it reflected. I've owned several Triumphs, some of which were BRG. Other makes were a little different. On another note, a lot of people don't know that Ferrari red now is not the same as the old Ferrari red.

i guess your paint job is being done by "Thing" then. see hand in corner of pic.

do you have your rear and marker lights yet, if not try British Pacific landrover, as used on my car.

you can use a rear/stop light with a turn light lense for the front marker/turn light.

It is back on the road!

Now it is time for careful shakedown, and development.

Why would anyone want to listen to a radio in a car such as this. I would be too busy enjoying the drive.
