In your August 2 post higher up the page, where did you source the very tight initial bend before the flex joint in the exhaust system? Perhaps it's described earlier in your build log?

Warren, not 100% sure, that was a long time ago now :oops:, but I'm pretty sure I just took a chop saw to a standard 90°, to tighten the bend a bit.

Took a long time coming, and I'm not done yet, but I applied for my VIN this morning.

Have pretty decent documentation for the frame, engine, wheels, etc., not so much on the transmission as I bought it from a fellow off Kijiji. Hopefully that doesn't cause any hangups.

Not a bad way to start the day. I now officially own a 2020 Ubuilt Replica of a 1966 Lotus Super 7 as opposed to a collection of assembled parts.

Pretty painless process. It was the same guy that inspected Perry's a few months ago, so he wasn't unfamiliar with the vehicle type.

Congratulations! A significant milestone. This is a point of stress for most of us until they rivet it on. Take a deep breath now.

Cheers!

Thanks guys, it feels pretty good.

Seems like a slow past couple days on here so I'll post my minor victory. Installed my reservoir overflow bottle.

Being a long time Pepsi drinker, I don't think I admire that overflow tank all that much :rofl:
One question though, is it vented to atmosphere?

It is. While snug, in an attempt to keep out debris, the top definitely isn't airtight.

Congratulations on registering. Please tell us what requirements (rules) must be met to register in your country? Where can I read them?

Thanks.

Not sure where you can read the steps, but it typically involves the following:

-Apply for a VIN (check to make sure you're not using stolen parts);
-Get an Out of Province Inspection (checks brakes, lights, drivetrain, etc.);
-Appraisal for insurance purposes;
-Get insurance; and,
-Get it registered.

I’ll clarify one more point. Do I understand correctly that it is sufficient to pass a technical inspection as during a routine technical inspection, and not in a specialized laboratory?

And one more question. Are there any special requirements, for example, the presence of an airbag, a windshield, a janitor, a cabin heater?

In Canada each province has different requirements to get a UBilt (a car built from plans) legal.
In Alberta we are fortunate to have inspectors that are familiar with our car builds.
The first requirement is to get a VIN attached to the frame. You must provide documentation (donor part serial numbers) to prove the car is not built from stolen parts. Once VIN is attached to the frame you have a legal car.
Once the VIN plate is attached the second requirement in Alberta is an Out of Province Inspection, because the car is new and has never been registered in Alberta. This inspection confirms that the car meets all road worthy requirements (for the era and replica it represents) and is safe to drive on our roads.
Then it is a matter of getting it insured (most insurance companies request an appraisal), then it's a trip to the Registry office to buy a license plate and you are good to go.
