JD are you battened down? It looks as if you might have a little wind headed your direction.

I'll ditto the implied concern of carguy123, JD. Hopefully, all you'll get in Tallahassee is very wet with some mild wind damage. However, when I see the expected rain figures fr this storm, and they're pretty large, I wonder how the whole region will do with the lingering saturation from the last hurricane still there.

If you have power and can access the Internet, do let us know how you're doing after the storm passes.

Best,

Gentlemen (and Carguy) -
Welcome to Hurricane Panic Central... The last 24 hours have been the usual insanity before the storm makes things really crazy. People were lined up to buy gasoline, the stores were selling out of bread and drinking water, and Harbor Freight had a stack of portable generators near the door so you could just pull the ticket off one of 'em and go to the register.

We're all hunkered down, got plenty of food and water (and barbecue!) to last us through whatever happens. The earlier projections had the storm passing right over Tallahassee. Had me worried. Here lately, the path has shifted westward a good bit. Instead of landfall due south of us, it's aiming at the Mexico Beach area. That's a bad thing, because I love Mexico Beach, we go there every now and then. Great beach, there's this 50's vintage motel on the front row named El Governor ("El Guv" to locals) and a place called Toucan's. I hope they all come thru the storm OK.

Yeah, that beach...

The good news is the path is now projected some 50-60 miles west of us. It's still gonna be a rough 24 hours or so, but maybe I'll still have a roof afterwards.

Oh, and the Slotus... Nothing a new rear main seal won't fix... I might work on that today, while I wait for Michael's arrival.

10AM Eastern - All is well, windy, raining, nothing special. I suspect there is more to come, but so far...

Stay tuned! Although my power will go out any minute now and I won't be back online for a week, but stay tuned anyway, somebody might be building a car or something.

Interesting, JD. I've got live reporting of the storm on TV right now. I'm sure you do too. The news/weather folks from NBC were just told to leave Mexico Beach now. They are doing so.

My sister-in-law was supposed to fly out of Tampa for San Diego tomorrow. We don't know if that's going to happen or not now.

We'll be thinking of you.

Best,

I saw "food, water and barbeque" mentioned. I see nothing about Hornitos.

Hope that you and yours stay safe.

Well it was good to hear you were still alive and kicking. Don't forget to gather up the livestock too.

Here's hoping nothing happens to your garage holding Slotus. Did you stake her down?

JD, looks like your nemesis has changed from Murphy to Michael, at least for the time being. Hope the roof don't leak, at least in the garage. And hope you still have a roof when this thing blows on by. Let us know how you're doing when the lights come back on.

Good morning Y'all!
We caught the edge of the storm. Power/internet/cable are all down. No real damage, just a mess to clean up. Kids, grandkids and whatever Earl is are all fine, at HamDip's house.

Sporadic reports from Mexico Beach area say it was hit hard. Toucan's that I mentioned was pretty much destroyed. Don't know about El Guv, but it was on the beach and every room had a big plate glass window on that side. The structure is probably OK... Lots of homes were destroyed, don't think there were any fatalities.

Overall, we were lucky, came thru unhurt and with a roof. We'll be back up to speed in a few days.
Thank you all for your concern and support.

Peace, Love and FEMA-

Very relieved to read this news. Was watching the storms progress hoping it would dodge the known center of the universe. So glad that you and yours are safe and sound.

Good to hear that you all made it thru safely. What's a little lost power/internet compared to what it could have been?
