I apologize for my lack of postings.
No real excuses, just been a bit blah.
My Oncologist found a new tumour on a scan 7 weeks ago. We increased my chemo dose, which I take every day. My latest scan ,last week, was good news. the increased chemo dosage did its job. The existing 2 tumours hadn't grown appreciably, and the latest tumour was also being held in check! Back in 2 months for my next scan. As anyone with any form of disease will tell, the advise is always not to live from scan to scan. That's a lot easier said than done. Last week we braced ourselves for the results. Getting good news was great, just took some time to soak in.
Now onto the important stuff. I titled the roadster a couple of weeks ago, and have my fresh title. Will insure and then get tags this coming week. I changed the gauges to Stewart Warner when I couldn't get senders to work with the non pipe threads in the block or the gauges. Wired up the lights and turn signals. Despite that I am itching to drive the roadster, my coupe has been taking priority recently.
I got in a wreck with the coupe.

Totally my fault. I had pulled over to take a look at a '50 Chevy truck project for sale (are we ever done!). Went to do a U-turn and I clearly didn't see the car coming. I drove into the side of it. My drivers wheel hit their passenger side front wheel. We hit hard. It bent my axle, cross spring and pushed the axle 5" through the frame. Every part of the suspension is bent.

The frame is bent but the shop has said they can straighten it. Total cost including parts, frame straightened, pain and all labour is $8100, I have a $500 deductible. the appraisers quote is on its way to Hagerty. Expecting to hear from them next week. It looks worse than it is. It didn't get into the body, except the front inner fenders. The grille has a dent and is twisted, but it will straighten. All the front suspension needs replacing. The radiator is brass and was tweaked. As the grille fits to this, and this determines the hood fitment, I need another radiator. A very expensive radiator, over $600.
Just so bloody angry with myself! Oh well, I built it once and can repair it this time. Neither me or the other driver were hurt, both cars are fixable. It could have been so much worse. The only thing that hurts is my pride. That's been hurt before, and I got over it!
Once I have settled with the Insurance company I can get parts and start reassembling. then it can go to the frame shop. Hope to have it back on the road by the end of summer, maybe faster. At least I will have the roadster to drive.
Not been the best couple of months, but nothing we can't overcome!
I will keep you guys fed with pictures when I start on the coupe.
Apologies for being off the grid for a while.
Cheers,
Stewart.
