While we're waiting on a few parts to arrive, Garm and I had a couple beers at the shop last night and started playing with welding rods and a roll of painter's tape.
The result was a visual mock up of the rear fender flares I have in mind for this car -

Frank the Skeleton is our mascot; he supervises really well and makes very few (ok, none) suggestions or corrections.

Gotta get the pedal set ordered up!

I did offer to buy him a burrito or something for lunch, but he's on some zero-calories diet...

Definitely has a digestive problem. But like they say about projects, "the bones are good". 8)

LOVE the look of the rear fender flares!! They remind me of the insane Renault 5 Turbo of the 1980's...a car I've always coveted!

IIRC, Jay Leno did something similar with a Ford Fiesta, and it was awesome - sexy as hell, and brutally fast.

Yo, Zetec- You're kind of right... Jay bought one, and still has it. How-some-ever:

Quote:
In 1990, Chuck Beck of Special Editions and Rick Titus took seven Ford Festivas and mounted 3.0 L SHO V6s − still mated to their native transmissions − behind the front seats in mid-rear engine configuration. Along with substantial cosmetic body changes, including custom fiberglass wheel arches to accommodate a wider stance and larger tires, the suspension was completely redesigned. Each car was painted a different color. These changes resulted in a car that could travel the ¼ mile (0.4 km) in 12.9 seconds at 100.9 mph (162 km/h), and could achieve a lateral acceleration figure ranging from .95 to 1.04 g. Two of the seven are notable; Jay Leno owns number 003 (the silver one), and number 005 (the purple one) included special modifications for competition in the SCCA, including a rollcage and 5-point restraints. Since the creation of these cars, others have imitated the idea by performing SHO-to-Festiva transplants of their own.
Stolen from Wikipedia!
I had to look it up, because I didn't think Leno built the thing, but I wasn't sure who did. Now we know... The rest of the story!

Jay Leno did put a big bottle of nitrous in the back of his though, because the "normal" Shogun wasn't quite mental enough.

If you need laughing gas while driving this car, you have serious sensory and / or adrenaline issues

Great build - looking at the same engine / quaife combo in a S600. Do you mind If i ask a couple of measurements for research sake ?
As in the distance from the minimum front of the engine cage (against your seat backs or whatever) to the axle outlets.
Thanks if you know 8)

Hi Garm I'm a new member here and joined the forum because of the honda 600 builds on here. I am so glad I found this thread along with ccrunners build. I have a z600 coming and will very desperately need help to learn about it. I'm still reading both logs and I see a wealth of other builds here. Great place, lots of info and friendly members.

^ Welcome! It's a great platform to build from.
I'm sure Blackbird will have some updates for us soon; I know they've been cranking out lots of "bread and butter" work lately.
