Quick update from this past weekend.
I managed to pick up the flu on my trip to Michigan for work last week. Not one to let fever, chills, or coughing grind my weekend to a halt, I was in the garage moving slowly.
I ordered a 116 link 530 chain last week. A little quick mockup showed that was plenty of length and I could easily slide the motor to the right and have a straight shot with the chain. Plenty of room in the chassis and no mods required to the final drive setup or need to add the jackshaft back in.
I busted out the bailing wire to balance the motor in place where I wanted it with the oil pan resting on the floor jack and everything lined up nicely. Neat thing about bailing wire is you can fine tune your positioning with a twist of the wire here and there, then get your measurements to cut tubes.
Bailing wire, vise grips, magnetic welding blocks, and foul language were all used in abundance.
I spent the rest of Saturday building motor mounts and coughing my head off.

Mounts on the other side are very similar. the forward brace is different to allow the motor in and out.
Sunday I built probably the ugliest shifter you've ever seen. I had bought a complete foot shifter and linkage off ebay for $8 and cut it into little pieces. It was built with a steel pushrod and the lever ratio seemed a bit high for my Morse cable. So I lengthened the shift arm on the transmission and fabricated a mount for the trans end of the cable.

Next choice was shifter on the right or shifter on the left. The cable was long enough for either, so I arbitrarily picked the right. Just personal preference being an American.
A bit of digging in my scraps bin and I found the bits I wanted to make my shifter.
Pivot has a bronze bushing riding on a 5/16 bolt.

It's ugly, but works like a champ. I've got it positioned so I won't hit it accidentally and it's a short reach from the wheel.
Now I'm thinking about a simple clutch lever.
