My takeaways:

1- It is a brave man who will post his slipper-clad follies in slow motion

2- I'm a fragile fair-weather flower, and simply am not man enough to live in such a climate

3- I'm getting vicarious spine pain having watched the driveway video

4- This is the least practical, yet most interesting truck ever to grace the Home Depot parking lot

**thanks for the updates- fun to watch.. I too am wondering about drivetrain #1?

Well, I'm catching up on your log today.

So, #1, that was a great pratt fall in that driveway video. Were you in your jammies? It sure looked like it. Slippers too?

#2, I see you've started "horrifying" your children early with your "crazy dad" behaviour. Good for you. Don't save it all until their teenage years. They don't take it very well then. Giving them a little bit at a time is good.

#3, what happened to engine and transmission 1?

Cheers,

engine 1 and tranny 1 were weakened/damaged drag racing when they were in the Forester. Neither really broke. I started seeing glitter in oil so i yanked motor, rod and main bearing showing significant wear so i put in a stock JDM Legacy GT engine for the time being. The transmission lost 2 teeth on 3rd gear and started making quite the ruckus. This might have happened couple weeks ago when clutch chattered real bad, but its been making noises since 2017

thanks. If you dont like poor weather you would have suffered through the trip home from World of Wheels in it. It was near blizzard conditions. I'm still trying to get salt from the road slush out of my seats and every steel nook and cranny is rust staining from it

Terry,

I have just skimmed your thread and will read all the whole of it tonight, but I wanted to ask what CFD program you are using?

Very nice results on the build, by the way.

Its called Flowdesign. Its almost a beta program for autodesks current CFD. You can download and use it free as a student version

Just wanted to stop by and say your build came up in discussion at the MBR SCCA autocross event this past weekend.

I think they saw the wood hauling photo and some other tidbits on one of the other social platforms.

haha oh really. I just signed up again for the SCCA TNiA. Weather permitting i'll be pushing this thing to its limits on 5/22. I'd like to come in under 2:00 at Pittrace but im more interested in finding its limits, getting coilovers setup better, watching my oil pressure in corners and how the brakes are going to hold up.

i took some video on the track tour laps last time, just some paced laps around to get to see it, learn some of the corners since ive never been on the track. The guy in video was from Cleveland, Tom Philips or something like that, i'm really bad with names.

and some more testing of my logging. I switched back to Romraider via a windows tablet

Awesomeness. I'm sure that you're a lock for FTD with a cord of wood in the back!

been working on a rear sway .75" (19mm) 4140

After i fixed up my front bar links, i felt a nice improvement but had a hint of understeer on the horizon so i started thinking about the rear again. After some googling, it seems you can just build one, they aren't made from heat treated unobtanium like i thought. Just have to keep it under yield in its elasticity range.
