I have an extra tubing notcher in case you want one. Just cover the shipping.

You can build the most awesome thing in the world but at some point, an 80yr old man in a crx is probably going kick your butt on the track... don't ask me how I know.

Thanks for the offer. I skimmed your thread. Its certainly a nice project. So you had the best results with a fine tooth hole saw? I assume its one of those supply your own drill types. How did it do overall?

Haha, my project is a mess! Way better builds on here.

The notcher is just a harbor freight one.

I used whatever saw off the shelf I could find. It worked fine for its intended purpose. Most of my tubes were printed in solidworks, taped to the tube and coped with a grinder because they were very complex.

Google chop saw mitering, it works really good once you get a handle on the angles needed. My brother built his tube frame bush truck using that method.

Nice! I like the body panels in between the tubes like that. I plan to do the same with aluminum on the sides. Firewall and flor will be stainless steel

Total PITA! Not only did I have similar issues, I would get different answers depending on who I spoke with.

I ended up finding a guy thats done some Cobra kit cars. He was pretty down to earth and shared my thoughts on build it safe and we'll get it through mentality.

When i asked him about the wipers, he sort just said, well when we send the photos into Harrisburg, they're going to want to see wipers on it. Kind of like a wink wink, lets just set some wipers there for the photo. So i was pretty much sold. He said my laminated windshield was fine. all they ask for is saftey glass, but i dont want just safety glass in case a rock hits it, i dont want a lap full of 70mph glass pellets on the highway. He didnt seem to require DOT stamped lights either. Just said make sure they work, well yes, for my own safety i agree they should work.

Doors are still an open issue. He hasnt done doorless kit cars yet so we'll have to see what happens. But i told him about all the street leagl exocet's and he said then it probably wont be an issue

Im ready to start tearing apart the donor car. I completed its bucket list, took it to the drag strip and trapped 119mph. Then put it on a mustang dyno and it made 415awhp/398awtq. Thats in a 2900 pound chassis. Cant wait to get this thing down around 1500. So now it sits and waits, i want to have my first batch of tubing and a pipe bender before ripping it apart. Any week now.

I've completely change my mind on the chassis. I like this one. And it looks like it should play better with my suspension

Got my drill press in today. Just a cheap WEN 4208 8" Press. My plan was to make a longer column pipe for it so i can fit hte tube notcher under the drill chuck. The column size is 1.81" OD. Theres no such thing as 1.81" OD tube or pipe in domestic or metric. So i either have to ghetto shim it and use 1.75" tube. or have a peice os 1 1/2" pipe turned down to 1.81" OD. Ugh. My lathe at work can only handle about 16" piece supporting both ends, and the chuck wont fit over 1 1/2" pipe so it have to grip inside of pipe and hope the other end stays somewhat true and doesnt wobble or fly our of the chuck. It comes with about a 14" high column. I want a 30" high column
