Hey Lonnie, yes, it's a slant 4 and because of that has proved to be a challenge to shoe horn into the frame/body.
The way I look at it is that it's practice for building the Super Slant Six 7, you know, practice at a smaller scale then move up to full size

Vacation over, back to retirement work.
Bit of a build up date.
After trying to fit the OEM steering column to the R&P with 5 u-joints and 3-3/4" heim joints, I was not happy with it.
So I ordered a 28" Hot Rod auto tilt sterring column. Started fitting it today. 2 u-joints and 1 heim should do the trick.
It has the column auto shift selector, tilt steering, signal light switch, and 4 way flasher switch. I'll be using a shift cable from the column to the auto trans.
I will be moving the seat (I'm making a bench seat instead of buckets) about 4" rearward from the original seat placement. This will eliminate the rear seat that was in the car, will allow me to move the firewall back, and allow me to place the fuel tank in the rear of the car instead of front of dash.

Yes, yes it is, it has the same cockpit width as my Silvaire Bushmaster airplane that I built a ways back, 42".

Soooo, wifey came out to the shop for a vroom, vroom moment (years ago it would have been for somethin' else very quick ).
Anyhoo when it comes to the build, a happy wifey is a happy lifey.

So yesterday evening I had a great BS session with JD via WhatsApp, nice app that lets people talk or video call each other anywhere in the world.
Today I started fabbing up the brake pedal assembly on the mouse. I looked at Lonnies fabricated pedals and liked what he did.
Another bonus this afternoon, I talked to Lonnie by phone! We discussed pedal ratio's, MC bore size and stroke, and overall design.
It's great putting voices to guys I've been conversing with over a few years

Welded up the brake pedal assembly. It is a stand alone unit. It will bolt to the car frame and will go through the firewall where the master cylinder bolts to the assembly. Still have to fab up a stop light switch on the assembly, drill mounting holes in base plate, ordered a longer rubber foot pad and new master cylinder. Never mind the assembly bolts, the proper Gr 8 bolts and ESNA or Stover nuts, most likely Stover nuts will be installed on final assembly. Stover are lower profile.
When I drew the pedal pattern out on construction paper, I put the push rod pivot behind the brake pedal pivot. As you press on the pedal this allows the push rod travel 'arc' to start below the centreline of the master cylinder piston, halfway pedal travel, the push rod is centreline of master cylinder piston, full pedal travel, the push rod is just above centreline of master cylinder piston

Nice work, Perry... Very nice, as usual.

On the Slotus, I built my own gas pedal assembly. I bought a Wilwood brake pedal assembly. It's one thing if the gas pedal breaks and the car won't "go"... It's another thing entirely if it won't stop!
