Perry, great work, love it!

I've just gone through all the pages and think this will be a very fun ride. I too am a lover of "odd" rides. I tend to take the road less traveled... :) Take a look at my Picture Trail albums in my signature and you'll see some of my different rides.

I just have one comment and I'm sure this has already been thought through, but, the overhead front cross member looks to be welded in place. It also appears to be slightly over the front of the engine a bit. Not sure how you would get the motor back out if you had the body in place. I was just thinking that the upper could be a "bolt in" rather welded in place.

Carry on with the great work.

Dan

Hi Dan
Thanks for the comments, the cross member is just sitting in place. It will be fabbed up to bolt in place, once I set the body on the frame. There is a body attachment right where the cross member is, so I want to marry them all together.

I'm going to get that info to you, Perry. Believe it or not, I've been working on my build every day, and I've been too tired in the evening to get it done. I'll get it for ya though.

Cheers,

So, long overdue for a restomod update.

I've been told that spring in Sunny Alberta has been a long time coming this year. Should be +8C (45*F) during the day, instead it's -2C (28*F). Not that I'm complaining mind you, it's still short's and tee shirt weather here, just no mosquitoes or horseflies (win/win) .

I have been committing fabrication of rocker panels. It's been very challenging doing multiple compound curves. Not professional but it should pass the 60mph critic test once dressed and body filled.

Some pics.

Now here's where I would like to take the time to vent a bit. We are building cars on this site, we are building to exact measurements. We strive for perfection on our frames and car bodies.
So here's the deal. I have noticed that the DS and PS rear frame/body mount tabs on the body are not the same. See the pics.

Can anyone explain to me why the PS tab would be 3/4" longer than the DS tab? Drives me nuts, all measurements being equal.

Those rocker panels are looking pretty good, especially for a first time effort. Besides, that's why God invented Bondo.

Restomod build update. Slow progress, finished fabbing the rockers, fitted, and welded in, rock solid. Will need to throw some plastic on the outside to get a finished surface. Got to weld in a couple of pieces in front of the rockers/inner fender, then place on the frame to fit the mount points. Some pics.

Today we had a marriage of sorts, no, maybe an engagement, well it definitely was a reunion. Bunch of pics.

Very cool, Perry. Was that engine slanted like that in the Toyota donor?

You know, when people see the car from the back, that big rear axle is going to make them think it's a drag car with a Hemi engine. It should be a fun car to drive around town.

Cheers,
