And like that the build table is ready. Next step is to start mocking up major components and lowering ceiling Subaru to the ground for the last time. Then things will get Sawz-ally.

Nice mock up, now all you have to do is fill in the spaces!

Got the Subaru on the ground last night.
It's both simultaneously better and worse then I remember.
I feel no remorse cutting this thing up and giving it a second chance at anything resembling a life.

I'm hoping to get the engine on the table and start body cutting tonight.

I think you should keep the 2 x 6 subframe on the body for added stiffness.

Hmm then it could be the Lumber, MDF, Plywood Subaru 360. Or the LMP360 for short. That works...

The HF swivel casters are nearly the same size as the stock wheels.

Heck, foam core board would add stiffness to that body! Still, I like the car-to-be. Well worth the extra effort.

Had one of those many years ago that almost ran.
They became worthless the day after Consumer Reports named them as the most dangerous car sold in America.
Yet the Honda N600 series followed them! :?

That picture really doesn't do justice to how tiny that car is.

LOL, I can relate to that. The Topolino is 41 1/2" at it's widest point inside the cabin.
You have to be very comfortable with your passenger, even iffin they put their hand on your knee whilst the both of you are seated in the car, because that's the only place there's room to put their hand.

Sorry I got a little behind updating this one here..
I cut the body down and got it on the build table with the fenders roughly mocked-up in their locations

Also I'm trying something new for this build and making a Youtube Build series.

The first episode is about building the build table.

And the Second is about cutting down the body.

The next episode I'm recording this week and will document as I design the suspension.

No real progress on the Subaru has occured in the last few weeks. That's because I was preparing the MG for a trackday at Road America with Gridlife (More on that later in the MG thread).

I did however get a chance to edit the video(s) for the suspension design. I ended up making 2 videos because the original edit was very long and very dry. The final edit splits out the discussion of suspension terms and definitions into a seperate video. I initially was just going to have it be a one time thing but I decided to call it "Tech Talks" as I realized that as the build or other builds progress there will be more items that require a technically detailed discussion.

Both of these videos are pretty dry and boring but it's hard to make hanging string on a wall and explaining KPI and VSAL to interesting. That said I hope people who are interested in suspension development find it interesting. My approach to suspension design is a bit more "laissez faire" in that I don't get to hung up on the exact placement of pivots. I round things to the nearest 1/4" or 1/8" and just let what has proven to be a sound theory on what compromises to make develop the suspension. It's fairly quick and easy way to go and so far has proven to work pretty well on the vehicles I've used it on.

The video for suspension design is here
https://youtu.be/VuVyg9Z_97s

And the tech talk is here

That tech talk was quite useful at defining and describing a variety of suspension terms and concepts. With your permission, I'm going to add it to the Sage Advice section of the kineticvehicles.com web site.

I'll bet a lot of folks will say "Aha! So that's where the roll center comes from," and the like as they watch this. Good clear information there.
