Hello, Still alive and checking in.. The project is still alive and Ive been actively planning my next steps, Ive just chosen other priorities as of late.

Baby Airframefixer was born in June and has been Dad's priority number uno since. Shes a ton of fun, and a happy healthy baby. Cant wait till we get to work on something one day. Stalled car progress is due to a choice to focus on the family over the last 7 months. Things are largely under control now and my wife and I are starting to get back to some of our hobbies.
The last thing I did before we had our little girl was lay up the mold for the upper side pods. It should have been done earlier but I managed to knock over the plug/form a few times and cause some damage which needed repair. Unfortunately, I wasn't well stocked on polyester resin when I was doing the layup and it turned out two plies thinner than ideal, but I figured it would be ok, Wrong! The cheaper poly resin shrinks quite a bit more than ideal mold making resin and the mold warped. It is now substantially braced with pieces of wood to keep the shape. Not the best I could have done, nor to my standards I like to achieve, but I have to be realistic and get things achieved without breaking the bank.

The parts are ready for layup now, just need to get the cloth. Being far from the border, Ive come up dry with inexpensive composite suppliers, so I have to pony up and pay the local prices to get what I need.
Mitch, I do have a CAD file somewhere on an old computer, Ill have to dig it up and find it. PM me
Profire, The best thing is to keep everything that runs the engine and Isolate it like you plan. Overwhelming at first, but once you get a hold of the components and how there powered, It becomes clear, study that schematic.
PapaGuido, lots of reading will get you there too, Its best to think it all through before cutting metal. All the best with your project.
Till then.
