The 6 speed is longer, and heavier. You don't need all those gears, but I believe the 6 speed is a much better transmission than the 4 speed. The 4 speed was a pretty old design with many known failure points.

I am building the next version of the car now. I would not go with the automatic again. It worked, but the 4L60E in stock form just didn't hold up. I believe if you talk with the guys at Mongoose Motorsports, they also went away from the 4 speed in favor of the 6 speed. I went with a manual solution years ago, and I have been very happy with that. Keep in mind, my solution means no reverse gear. For a track car, it works great.

My latest solution is a Mid Valley Engineering dog ring four speed mated directly to a Winters Quick Change IRS. It should hold 800-1000 HP, and track use, with no issue.

I think the 6 speed auto can be a great setup; depends on what you're doing with it.

The electric pump worked well....until it sat over the winter. Then, it corroded and failed. I was running pure, distilled water. The mfg said that would be fine. It wasn't. Run a coolant/water mixture and it should be fine.
