It's a shame you couldn't shorten the wheelbase. There looks to be a lot of extra real estate behind the seat.

The car is back from being Tig Welded.

I took some pictures of the cage to get more feedback from you guys.
I know you take space-frame building pretty seriously.

You forgot two...maybe three tubes:

I'd add the two side ones, for sure. You've got a pretty good web set up...pity to leave that whole side section with uncompleted triangles with such an easy fix available.

The rear one may not be needed...can't tell what is going on back there too well.

Thanks,
That was exactly the kind of feedback I needed.
I will put those tubes in ASAP

You should add a harness bar as well. Otherwise looks pretty good.

looks pretty good to me. i agree with adding the 3 green bars, the weight of the rearmost ones aren't much and since most of the box beam making up the frame is gone you may need the bracing. in addition the lower front link attachment points (rear suspension) may need strengthening for the same reason. i tore the mounts out of my spit twice before i put in a thick enough reinforcement and that was with under 100 hp! probably won't be an issue but given how much reinforcement is removed from the sides of the pan i figure better safe than in the weeds. .. i'll skip the sour cream on my fries if i absolutely must :ack:
this is one of those "stuck on smiley" projects :D or, as a friend of mine always said "i'm so happy i gotta sit on my hands to keep from hugging myself." which is how i imagine driving this will be.
so out of curiosity whats the dealio with the center diff, i understand the subaru can be set up driver adjustable so how about the dsm ones? my old man liked his but at 235k miles it was toast when he finally sold it despite his religiously performing maintenance. the body just gave out from the midwestern winters. ..

Love it.

Looks like the engine will fall out the front if you brake hard!

Agree with the 3 green tubes.

Good luck!

Looks like an interesting project and a fast build.

I think your rear diagonal bar is superfluous considering the 2 "V" supports in line with the main hoop. Nothing wrong with keeping it.

I'd also 2nd the opinion on a harness bar. I'd make it in 3 pieces and tie it to the "V" supports. Something like in the pic. Of course it depends on the location of your seats and shoulder height.

Don't worry, I will be adding more tubes and build as much triangles as possible.
I had the idea of building this when I first drove the Talon.
It was slower and clumsier than my Seven but I loved the traction off the line.
No need to modulate the throttle, you just floor it and it goes.
So I decided to get rid of some weight and the big overhangs.
The body was an easy pick, cheap and lightweight.
By the way that is what's inside the engine:

All forged internals good for 800 horses...

Pretty neat for cheap,I expect that brass hammer being on the inside of your engine causing you some problems in the very near future.

I did some more adjustment and fitting for the fiberglass body so I know more precisely where I can mount some off the components. ( Fuel cell, radiator, battery ...)

I had to cut the body in half because of the proportion of the talon are different from the buggy.
The Talon is square and the buggy body is narrow in the front and wide in the back.
I will have to widen the front and narrow the back of the body.

Muscletrike,

Dude this is what I have been waiting for. Been checking your log every day to see that body on the car. Looks great! Maybe the body if you could bring it back about three or four inches. But I understand you have that engine to cover. My dune buggy body is an original Manx. I called the guy in California and talked with him about these dune buggy bodies. I decided to trim my front fenders so they wouldn't look so thick and bulky. Came out pretty good looking but at the front corners my fenders came down just about an inch or so. I have a Geo tracker 4x4 that I have been thinking about putting the Manx body onto. Can't wait to see how good your project comes out. Looks like you definately know your way around modifying cars. Keep up the great work!

Mark.

Thanks,
I am planning on moving the body as far back as I can.

Yesterday, I did some cleaning and patching on the chassis.
A lot of cutting and welding in a 95º weather.
It is no a very interesting work but my friend Tango took some cool pictures:

You seem quite tall.

I've been know to weld in questionable attire, but I try not to as it can do some serious damage to your skin long term, and short term big slag bits can burn quite deep.

What ever became of the "muscletrike" I liked how that looked. Did you ever finish, or make any more progress?
