Looks Meyers Manx-ish. Lots of similar VW buggy stuff like that around. I'd love to build an old school Corvair powered Manx someday.

You seem quite tall.

What ever became of the "muscletrike" I liked how that looked. Did you ever finish, or make any more progress?

I am actually 5'10" but the car is tiny.

The Muscletrike slowed down when I started the Widow Maker. I do not have time or money for both.
But I keep it warm for later.

First of all, I frikin love it. I've had a similar project percolating for a while. One thing that I've missed is the car's intended purpose. Given the speed potential, aerodynamics are likely to play a big part should you decide to track it. Currently it looks like a high drag/high lift design. If it were me, since there's so much real estate available where the back seat used to be, I'd get a very reclined seat, which would enable a considerably lower roofline, giving better aero plus a more rakish stance. Alternately, if I were to make it an around town/autocross/rallycross car, I'd use upright seats and make the sucker into a truck!

I think what makes it look so long is the fact that the A-pillar/front hoop is so far forward. If it was moved back closer to where the steering wheel is, it might have more normal proportions. ...but I want to see the car built to match the vision in your head.

I think the beach buggy idea is cool.

Thanks,
I am planning on moving the body as far back as I can.

Yesterday, I did some cleaning and patching on the chassis.
A lot of cutting and welding in a 95º weather.
It is no a very interesting work but my friend Tango took some cool pictures:

a slight body stretch in the middle, i like the forward positioning of the cage. add a rear high mount radiator and i think it would look pretty good.

I really like the forward-leaning proportions of this thing. It's quite unique compared to the long hood look of most Locosts. I like it better without the body though, but maybe that's just me. I say just stick some sort of side panels on it and some cycle fenders to make it look a bit more finished and call it good. Maybe an engine cover of some sort. And some big wings. Very big wings.

I also like the look without the body.
I am planning to have the fiberglass removable so I can drive it "naked" at the track if I want to.

I did some more body fitting.
It is kind of a pain: remove the body, cut, reposition the body, remove again, cut again ...

I am also planning on cutting some vents on the top of the front fenders to reduce lift:

Weight should be around 1500 pounds.

I have been working on the attachment of the body to the frame.
I was inspired by the way RC cars body fixation works.

Looks pretty good, not so sure you'd get down to 1500lbs though-the complete drivetrain alone must weigh close to 800lbs by itself.Even if it was more than 1500lbs it'll still be nutty fast.

Muscletrike,

This thing is going to naturally own the SCCA tracks. The short tracks with a lot of tight turns this thing is going to rule! Put a steering quickner on it and really kick some butt.

Mark......
