Cars look GREAT!

Are you selling the shift system for the Subaru trans? I got a rear plate and spool for my Sti build but could save some time if I used your shift adapter. Need a price also.
Thanks,Randy

Ive got a question for you guy's.
Ive got a customer dying for a TR-42 but there is a problem, He cant push a clutch pedal any longer do to a knee problem.
He came up the other day and could get in and out of the car ok.
I know there was a few years that Subaru built a two wheel drive trans, does anyone know if they made it in an automatic 2wd?
Thanks guy's

The guy named PhyrraM on the FFR 818 forum answered this very question in November. Hopefully this helps:

http://thefactoryfiveforum.com/showthre ... or-PhyrraM

"2- Use a pre-'96 FWD automatic transmission. They are basically the same design, but I am not well versed on the slight differences. There may be some electrical control differences that might need to be tackled to keep the engine ECU happy. This is the easiest mechanically, of course as there are no mods to make."

well pook, thats sad to here, but i understand comp-letely.

the import cars can turn around much quicker than complete builds of one off cars and to be honest, the price that you would need to charge for a build to make a sensable profit is beyond the reach of many potential customers.

your posts and your work in geneal have been inspirational to say the least, although no longer building a car, we all would appreciate you continuing to monitor the forum and as you feel necessatry, poke in your two cents as you have a unique insite into ground up car building.

good luck pook!

I will!
Its tough to justify working 7 days a week for less than I made as a Porsche tech working 5 :BH:
Hell back then I could have afforded to own one of my own cars....

Yo Pook-
I hate to see you have to close up shop and call it a day... Been there, done that, know it hurts. I hope the next endeavor, workin' on Porsches or whatever is more successful.

Your work with foam core and fiberglass was an inspiration to my build, and I'm sure it was to others as well.

Good luck, with whatever you do, and come back and visit us often!
Regards-
JD Kemp

Pook,

Like the others, I am sorry to hear you are closing up shop. I understand about the $$ thing and the time thing. Those are hard things to ignore to chase your dreams. At least you had the conviction to give it a try. I hope with your new job, you will have time to tinker with the odd car project and help out around here when you have the time.

Good Luck!

The space/time VS money is the big issue, Takes a LOT of room to build and not throw metal and FG all over the cars that DO pay the bills.
I just keep eyeing the front of the shop thinking...Ohh more room! then when it pays less in profit to spend a month bending, welding, grinding vs building an engine in a week

This BTW is a cheap way to be able to put cheap poly resin over the cheap blue foam.
Mix two part epoxy with alcohol till its super thin, brush it on, let it dry and it provides a great barrier!

A coat of latex paint painted over foam works well, too. I've also used contact/rubber cement on the foam & laid kitchen plastic wrap over foam & glass on top of the wrap.

Hate to see the builds stopping Pook, but all is understood. Good luck!

by 'Cheap foam" are you talking about the blue stuff you can get at home depot, or Lowes?

Yes, tThe problem has been, use cheap foam with expensive resin or expensive foam with cheap resin.
The coating lets you use cheap lowes or home depot foam and store bought cheap FG resin. (Like Bondo brand aka 3M)
Ive heard the paint thing work and tried the plastic wrap.
I like the epoxy brushed on because it doesnt add to my shaped foam or distort it. Plus I can change my mind and sand it right off or glue more foam to it.
