Cool! 'Preciate the info. I'll file that away, and try it when I'm doing the panels and pods on mine.
Take Care-

It will bend like that but not without help, I sand the top and bottom of the foam Just a little, I don't know why it acts this way but its almost like it breaks the surface tension a bit for lack of a better word?? anyway, then I pull it close but not all the way into shape with some type clamp. after a few hours of sitting like that it will go the rest of the way.
Also you'll find this foam is like balsa wood in that it bends in one direction better than the other, So I use that when I cut out my pieces.

Nice tip, thanks for sharing!

Hey Pook,
Some quick questions. What kind of foam is that? Where do you get it? Price? Sheet size/thickness?
Great work though, I always love your designs. And the scoops look fine to me.
Thanks,
Ken

Thanks!
Its the cheap stuff! I get mine at Lowe's, 1/2" and 3/4" thick, I think in different area's it may be pink? It runs $13-ish a 4x8 sheet.
(THE ONLY resin you can use is epoxy resin! I have watched my whole built up body panel dissolve before my eyes  )

You make me want to buy rather than build.

I really, really like your car!

Yo, Pook-
Remember the Johnny Cash song about the Cadillac? You could steal one piece at a time...

For the few body panels the car has, how much resin do you typically end up using per car?

Thats a GREAT Idea! "hey they only sent 19 lug nuts for some reason  "

I don't know how much yet, I'm still building the buck.
There is a great place for that kind of info for someone building their own. http://www.fibreglast.com/category/Learning_Center

I don't see why you should not have one if you want one. Year two (If everything goes according to plan)! But what would you theme it after? I am the Green Lantern. Does anyone know what my superhero powers are?

Have you chosen fiber materials for production yet? Look into the styles 7715 and 7725 for high strength and stiffness glass. It takes more care to layup but is a good bit stronger and stiffer then regular glass. The strength charts on their web site are a little misleading that way. I think they compare a fancy fiber carbon with low strength glass cloth...

composicon in hayward california has a good reputation for custom mouldings and such but sheeesh thats a long ways away from you, maybe someone on the gulf coast?
