I admire your dedication to the standards you have set for yourself. I shoot for %100, but am satisfied at 95%, looks like you always go to your potential.

Again nice work, also envious of your clean shop.

I love it. I had considered using Solstice uprights as well. Curious about how your Subaru powered version will be integrated. Are you using the Solstice hub too (5x110mm bolt pattern) and making custom axles, or changing the hubs to a more common bolt pattern, or? Do you plan to keep the Solstice floating calipers or fit fixed ones?

Took a look at your website too, you make some really nice vehicles.

Thanks! We're sticking with the 5x110's for now,
We've found some pretty nice wheels in the 16's and 17's that are reasonable and not too heavy.
We have also found that the back of the hub is flat and would be very easy to clock it a bit and re drill to any 5x pattern.
I have tried to find a tri-mount hub with a more common lug pattern that would fit the bolt pattern of the upright,(That's a mouth full)... and while I know its out there!!! I haven't been able to locate the correct unit yet. The bearing companies specs are choppy at best and want to lead you by car application rather than specs alone.

As for the calipers they will stay Solstice from us (they're over kill for sure! but have the e-brake we need)

You seem to have arrived at the same conclusions I did, I've been looking for that same magic hub too. If I find one I'll let you know. I haven't had a chance to dig through it, but here's the Timken hub catalog, TONS of info, the hub dimensions start on pg. 486.

So I guess you are making custom axles?

Well we started on the body work this weekend (what there is of it) It's just roughed foam for now till we refine the shape a bit.
The scoops are for either oil coolers or extra rads for the suby guys.

Awesome body design so far. I'm looking forward to seeing the front end with the side pods in foam shortly.
Way to go Danny! It looks like I wil likely be up to check out the progress in about a week (maybe Tuesday next week?). I am still playing it be ear with the weather.

Started on the hood/nose this week, Still just rough foam but its starting to take shape.
I'm having a rough time getting air to the intercooler on the suby's so I thought I could run a second set of scoops to help supplement?
But cant seem to make it look right. :BH:

Yo, Pook-
As always, your fab and bodywork artistry is just amazing. Good looking car, again! Well Done!

I have a question for you, on the subject of your "moldless composite" construction. In one of that last batch of pictures, I noticed this:
Attachment:
PookBodywork.jpg

My question is about the curved surfaces top and bottom near the wheel. Did you layer upteen pieces of foam and then sand them into the smooth curve, or are you able to bend the foam that much without it breaking? The foam insulation available from the big box stores here, at 1/2 inch thick, wouldn't flex that far I don't think... There were some similar curved surfaces on the "end plates" of the nose of your last car that also showed some cool complex shapes, didn't look like sanded down stacks... So, what's your secret?

Thanks, both for the inspiration and in advance for the info!
Take Care-
JD Kemp

Thank you!
It will bend like that but not without help, I sand the top and bottom of the foam Just a little, I don't know why it acts this way but its almost like it breaks the surface tension a bit for lack of a better word?? anyway, then I pull it close but not all the way into shape with some type clamp. after a few hours of sitting like that it will go the rest of the way.
Also you'll find this foam is like balsa wood in that it bends in one direction better than the other, So I use that when I cut out my pieces.
