Yup, but getting a VIN is first on the list - tomorrow.
Not for Hagerty. They accepted my application with the word "VIN pending" in place of the actual VIN, which I did not have. In Illinois, I needed insurance before I could apply to get a VIN! Once I got my VIN I just changed my VIN on the Hagerty website.

Hah... okay. I'll find out tomorrow the proper order of things, but it's good to know that Hagerty will accept "VIN pending" if the situation warrents it.

I think Hagerty doesn't want to insure kit cars that look like a Cobra. They typically have high horsepower and they probably no longer want to pay claims for owners who crash them.

I would down-play the HP of your car. State engine, ignore pressurized power adder mods.

hagarty said no, grundy said no, it's just added to my progressive insurance, i only carry legally required insurance, no comprehensive or total loss as i figure if it's my fault i would never get insured again any way and if it's the other guy, his insurance will have to pay and with no agreed value, they will have to pay big time.

it's insured as a special, they asked what it was like and i told them it was a lotus seven replica with a custom grill and a larger trunk to fit the spare wheel in.

if you loose the agreed value and the total loss part, they are left with insuring for a crash caused by you and the other guys medical bills, just the same as any car.

i hve no milage or use restriction on the car.

if they wanted an engineers report on the vehicle i was only to pleased to write one, in which i would praise the quality of workmanship and efficency of design the effectiveness of the braking system and how positive the handling characteristics were, as member of SAE and ASE certified master tecnician with a three year vocational degree in body repair, i guess i'm qualified to write such a report but they never asked.

Did they ever give a reason for the rejection?
