I am eternally greatful for this thread haha. I am about 80% done with my initial frame, and have my donor's narrowed down to 3 cars at my disposal for under $1000.....I hope to be through this same process in 2yrs time or less. We shall see, but THANK YOU!

well i'll tell you this My mothers Lotus Eliese has stamped on it (this car DOES NOT comply with dot regulations) and they sell these cars in every state. Crazy hunh?

I know that this is a very old post, but perhaps someone has the answer. The OP said that he needed to provide receipts for everything. How does that work out when you buy used parts like and engine and transmission? I have a ton of parts with no receipts.

They won't want receipts for nuts and bolts.
Paper for the motor and trans, frame materials, bodywork, should do.

Have anyone do up hand written receipts for the used parts or small stuff DMV wants.

In NJ, any private sale stuff receipts must be Notarized, and the VIN the parts came from need to be listed. YMMV.
