Hi Nate
"And honestly, besides a miata I can't think of much that's less than 1.9l, common, and rwd...."

There are lots of guys, myself included, who are using a RWD Toyota Corolla GTS donor. The 4AGE engine has almost the same specs and performance as the original 1.6 liter Miata, it's 1.6 liters, DOHC, etc.

These donor cars are not as plentiful as they used to be, because they are popular with the drifting crowd.
cheers
Doug

It all depends on what you want to use and where you want to end up. I would use the Non production vehicle modifier then you don't have to argue about if your car is equivalent enought to a Lotus/Caterham/Westfield and you avoid the aero restictions on those.

For an ultra light weight car I would consider a Hayabusa powered car. For a somehwat hevier automobile engine car I would go for a Turbo rotary in the higher classes and maybe a B18 or NA rotary in the lower classes.

For heavier cars I was thinking something like a K24, and at this weight you could retain your street legal lights & equipment.

And for the More Power folks, it's hard to beat an Aluminum LS, but even in ST1 the motor will need to be mostly stock, and the car rather heavy.

See below for HP level in the different classes for various configurations. All assuming 245mm/9.5" tires or less.
