Am i missing something here. It looks like the only way to autocross in my area is to have a BMW or Porsche. Any thoughts on where to find events?

Can anyone compete in one of these??

You can build the most awesome thing in the world but at some point, an 80yr old man in a crx is probably going kick your butt on the track... don't ask me how I know.

Looks like Rocky Mountain Region has weekend memberships for Solo events.

They run at Pikes Peak Int. Racwy and Front Range Airport. I'm told that the PPIR site is excellent.

Thanks! I wonder how much it cost? Looks like the weekend membership is like $15 from what I found online. Not sure what the event cost though...

Found this too. It may not be super exciting but at least i might get a second opinion on how to drive my car

The entry fees are $40 (plus the $15 weekend membership). If you have more questions about their events, contact Matt (hotruck"at"comcast.net)

Usually the BMW & Porsche clubs invite everyone. They simply organize them, but they aren't exclusively for that marque.

I run a lot of BMW & Porsche autocrosses here. MUCH better than SCCA!!

I run a lot of Porsche events too. They typically have great lunch and usually coffee and donuts when you arrive. The competition is normally not great but there are a few good drivers and everyone is very friendly. Also at the event ceremony there are usually 25 trophies for Porsche's and 2 or 3 for non Porsche.

I always enjoy the events and they often have great door prizes. Last time I went to a Porsche even I won a Porsche Cap in a raffle, Best (Worst) Hawaii shirt got me 2 Turvis tumblers, Porsche glass for Fastest non Porsche and a really nice keyring forgot why I won that may have come with the class win. The best of it was I turned up early and helped set up the course like I often do and they waived the entry fee. So I had a great day out and came home with about $100 in prizes.

Nevermind... this is that the SCCA offical said

DM and EM start out as mostly production cars and have to look like a production car (Miata, Sprite, Lotus, Spitfire, Fiero, etc.).

AM is the easiest place to fit. It could be a BM car, but BM cars are supposed to be compliant with the Club Racing GCR (General Competition Rules).

The local SCCA Region can class cars any way they want per Solo Rules section 1.1 (page 23). They can allow it in DM, EM, BM, or any class. They can even create a class for cars like yours. But if you entered a National Solo event or attend another Region’s Solo event, I’d suggest AM.

What class do you guys run in?

I would think that the newer provision including kit cars like the At0m as part of DM/EM should be applicable to your car as well, since it's visibly similar to an allowed car.
