Looking good.

Where did you get the angle grinder chop saw? That thing is sweet.

Welcome to the group! Your build looks good so far, keep up the good work!

Hey Andrew- Harbor Freight had a similar saw set-up last winter. Haven't looked lately...

I got an chopsaw attachment like that at Canadian Tire, $12. It's handy if you don't have the money or space for a bigger chopsaw/bandsaw, but it's not worth much more than the $12 I paid for it. PITA to cut angles with too.

Interesting build! Not many people using a straight 6, but your engine is fairly small I guess, good luck fitting it in there. How long is it overall?

PS - Those are some big wrenches in your first picture!

awesome build! someday I'll clear out space and start on one. I'm thinking of using my frontier as a donor.
I picked up a used delta miter saw, and put a 10" grinder disc in it. :)
$35, but I burned through a drive belt trying to angle cut 2 x 4 x .175 steel.

So I got a question. .. well a couple of questions and a comment.

Attachment:

Is that a birfield joint at the diff input?

There's been a discussion lately about tipping the engine for clearance. Obviously theres some tilt on yours, how far would you guess that put the center of gravity for the motor to one side? A seat of the pants guess is fine, I'm thinking maybe 40mm? Not that I expect to use the information but I am curious.

Solely a suggestion, I drew in a couple of gussets (ok so I can't draw to save my life, whats new) in orange that I think would help greatly to increase frame rigidity, I just keep having visions of frame collapse in a quartering impact every time I look at a book type frame. Not that one expects the need to survive such an event but you never know. .. since that top rail is pretty darn close in height to most bumpers, should an oncoming vehicle turn left into you that rail would be absorbing and distributing a larger percentage of the impact force. Just my personal opinion

Yes that corect, that joint is original from bmw 525i,

Engine is tilted as in bmw 525, perhaps for ideal balancing when only driver inside? i will mesured tommorow, and write here...

thank for advice, i will weld in a couple of tubes edges...

otherwise that book frame will survive much more than a normal car frame, but I do not want to try not in that, not in other 8)
