Couple of years ago I saw one of our local sheriff's cars on a flat-bed being hauled into the impound yard.
Roof was flattened flush with the tops of the doors from front to back.
I assumed the deputy had flipped it off the local mountain pass.
Turned out he had hit a horse.
Horse is just tall enough that their main mass passes over the front of the car and directly into the windshield.
If I had a pic you would be amazed that the deputy was unscathed, I did not exaggerate the damage, roof was pancaked!
This on a late model full-size American PD cruiser.
Scale down for Locost and deer.
If you are really worried I would say you need a "DuVall" windshield with the center bar incorporated into the front roll hoop,
That would reduce the opening for horns and hooves to fit through.
Do try to only hit living critters as they are not "Dead weight" which is more like hitting a boulder!
Local gal hit a dead bear in the road at night after some one else killed it, her husband spent over a week in the hospital and she was there for two days.
Late model mid-size car with all the safety features.
'Course you could raise the armored hood line a couple of feet and view the world through a tankers periscope.
