Does anyone know about how heavy the bare locost frame with panels weight? I was planning tobuild this in my shed, but I was worried my raised flooring might not handle the weight.

Couple hundred pounds, and the weight is distributed, so if the floor supports you, you're good. This of course assumes just what you said, the frame, paneling, and nothing else.

Sweet, the floor can definitely hold 3-4 people.

I built a while ago and didnt realize I may be building a frame in in.

The floor is raised on 4 corners, and it is a 12'x10' rectangle with 10' 2x4s spaced at 16 inches. I should have put some support in the center. :(

My frame with panels weighed just under 165 lbs. Then I added about a thousand pounds of drive train.

Yup! Chase 'em off with the frame, and their antlers can't reach you!

I was thinking they would think you have a crazy big set of antlers. That's probably how they think.

No problem building in your shed. Also by the time your frame is donw you'll know a lot about how to reinforce a shed. Frames are frames...

LOL! I know another guy who's building a Locost in his basement, and there's absolutely no way it will fit through the door. He plans on opening up an exterior wall with his chainsaw to extract the vehicle when done...

Me? I have a 16' wide garage door to work with...the car will fit through sideways, if I want!

I'm building mine in my shed as well. 12x24 is all the room I have, and I have to share a bit of it with the wife for her to store her work stuff.

The completed weight of my Locost is about 318lbs per corner. That means each wheels is pushing down 318lbs. I have friends who are heavier than that. If your shed can support your friends, you're fine. :)

You might want to show your friend this website for some extraction tips:
