I am trying to find out the length of the input shaft from the tip were it enters the pilot bearing to the mounting face were it bolts to the belhousing. I read somewhere that is was 6.6 inches, can anyone verify that, or know were i can find that dimension, or could anyone who is using a GM T5 measure there input shaft.

Did you ever get the measurements you need?

The input shaft doesn't actually bolt on; the retainer sleave holds it on throught the bearings.

I can give you dims from the input tip to the bearing retainer bolt head on an early 80s camaro v6-60 T5 and a mid 80s s10 v6-60 T5.

No I did not find the demensions yet so if you could measure that i would really appreciate it.

The s10 and camaro trans input shaft and bearing retainer throw out bearing sleave lengths are the same. Distance from bearing retainer throw out bearing shoulder to end of input shaft is 6.295" as close as I could measure it.

Also of note, and I know you didn't ask, BUT:

It appears the only difference between the thick, 19 lb camaro flywheel and the s10 thin, 15 lb flywheel is the lip on the leading edge. Machining it off the camaro wheel would be simple and should drop 4 lbs from the outer edge for a large improvement for minimal expense. Fwd flywheel is lighter still at 14 lbs, but that is due to a reduction in diameter. It would be difficult to lighten the s truck or fwd flywheels further without affecting the ability of the wheel to absorb abuse.

1985 was the transition year from external to internal balance for the s10. Not sure on the camaro but I think all v6-60 were internal balance from 1987 on. Rock Auto doesn't differentiate.

In a nut shell, one should be able to fit the 86up s10 2.8 flywheel to a rwd 3.4 and use either the camaro or the s10 bell and t5, or drill the 3.4 rwd block for the fwd starter and use the fwd flywheel with a dual bulge rwd bell and t5, or use a fwd 3.4 with the dual bulge bell and t5.

If converting from an automatic, the automatic crank bolts
