I'm going to have a Suzuki Swift GTi motor and Samurai 5spd tranny for sale soon. It is real light. Have to find all my paperwork to figure out the price first. Russ

Yup, Suzuki G13 is one of the lightest combos out there and so is it's bigger brother the V6.

Rotaries are not light, they can offer a tight and low mass package that can be benficial for handling though.

I have one of the 3 cyl Suzuki Kei 660cc motors and RWD tranny. Whole thing weighs well under 200lbs dressed. Older version of what Caterham is using.

now that I think about it, I have seen a rotary mated to a k20 tranny before from an RSX. Rear engine FWD tranny sounds fun...

Not sure on the weight but I would guess they would be lighter than a VW transaxle? And a lot easier to find in my area.

A K20 transmission is 85 lbs.

so i found a model of the G50 transaxle on Grabcad.com and i am wondering if they are identical enough to a regualr VW transaxle that I can use them to mock up my frame in SolidWorks.

I googled it and the G50's are Porsche transaxles, but they look similar to a bug/bus transaxle. just not sure of the sizes of them comparatively.

I tried but could not get it to open in SolidWorks...

It's only STL and STP files. If you know a way to open them in SolidWorks I would love to know.

They are basically the same size. I have bug and 914 transaxles on hand if you need a measurement.

Solidworks should open the step files. Is their an import function? If you want to send me the file I can try opening it in Inventor.

You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

My 660 Suzuki setup is from a Carry. Carry is a tiny little van. The cappuccino used a variant of this drive train. Easy to get about 100-110 hp. good bit of work beyond that. The entry level Caterham uses the more modern version of this drivetrain.

What are your plans for this? Any pics with it out of the truck?
