I need to start parting my donor to continue to fund my project. Aside from the obvious, to me at least, items what else should I keep from the donor? For those that have already built their cars or are almost finished, are they ever finished, what do you wish you would have kept from your donor?

Items on the list to keep right now are:

Engine and accessories /Radiator hoses / Oil cooler and hoses
Exhaust Manifold
Transmission, Gear shift gaitor/draft excluder/or whatever you want to call it / Speedo cable
Differential and axles
Driveshaft
Suspension - brakes, rotors, spindles, hubs, arms
Master cylinder(s) / Brake light switch / Brake hose retaining clips / Brake Proportioning valve
Instrument cluster / Flasher relay module / Fuse panel / Turn signal switch / Head light switch / Wiper switch / annunciator lights on the dash
seats, Seat belts
parking brake and cables
engine harness and ECU / Ignition coil(s) and wires / Any misc relay's
car harness / Any misc relay's
Hardware (bolts, nuts, screws from removed items)
Wheels, Lug nuts
Fuel Pump / sender
Steering Rack / components / column /Steering wheel tilt ass'y / Steering column plastic surround
O2 sensor
wiper motor, arms, linkages
pedal assy
mirrors
Fuel pump speed reduction relay/resistor
Fusible link if you have one
Battery

I know everyone's build is different so some keep things that others don't, like the instrument cluster, but if you know of something lets add it to the list as it may help someone else in the future. If someone knows where there is a good list on the forum let me know, I tried to find one, but without digging through hundreds of build logs I couldnt seem to locate one.

You may also think about saving :
1. Fuel pump and associated hardware from the gas tank
2. Ignition switch and key plus anything associated with the immobilizer.
3. Oxygen sensors
4. Steering rack
5. Parking brake cables

And anything else I might have forgotten.
Cheers,
Roy

Keep as much as you can. I tossed a lot of stuff that didn't look so good when I was taking the car apart, but would've looked a lot better two years later when I was running out of funds.

I kept more off TETANUS donor than I needed. It was easy to haul to the dump after she was a driver

I updated the list. Anything else I need to make sure not to sell?

I would keep every nut an bolt you can find. OEM ones are very good quality and when you need to spends $1-$5 per Bolt (with nut and washers) that really adds up so keep all the hardware you can.

Here are some parts that I used from my donor and are not on your list, but may have been implied, plus a few other ideas. I'd say keep everythig as long as you can, period. I still have a bunch of nuts and bolts 6,8,10,12 and 14 mm in ziplock bags that I occasionally get into for other projects.

Brake Proportioning valve
Flasher relay module
Fuse panel
Turn signal switch (mine was separate)
Head light switch (mine was separate)
Wiper switch (mine was separate)
Wish I had gotten the annunciator lights on the dash
Master cylinder(s)
Brake light switch
Any misc relay's
Fuel pump speed reduction relay/resistor
Speedo cable
Radiator, hoses etc
Oil cooler/hoses
Brake hose retaining clips
Ignition coil(s) and wires
Fusible link if you have one
Battery
Steering wheel tilt ass'y
Steering column plastic surround
Lug nuts
Suspension links (if any)
Gear shift gaitor/draft excluder/or whatever you want to call it.
Seat belts
I'm sure I am missing something.

Somewhere here, I uploaded a zip file of all the parts I used and if they were modified or not. Can't find it right now. Maybe someone else knows where I put it. Where's my wife? She'd know.....

Depending on your goal, you may want to keep things like door, hood and trunk latches, glove box latches, bottle holders, ???

You might as well get rid of the steering wheel, it will be too large but keep the retaining nut.
