Im really considering this engine now for my build verse the R1. Fix alot of the issues I am having with using an R1. I drew a quick model in sketchup. If anyone needs it let me know and Ill upload it.

Throw up some dimensions of the trans when you get it too so I can draw it as well.

Thanks!!

Oh, and that engine sounds really good in that video. Almost like its supercharged and not turbo'd.

Some of the sound might also be transmission or other drivetrain also. Still cool little motor.

True, I know straight cut dog type gears whine quite loud.

Could I get some measurements of the oil pan? Just wanting to get part as close as I can in the drawing.

Possibly the engine mount locations too?

Does the RWD transmission from the Sky/Solstice not also fit this motor?

I might get more measurements for you on the oil pan and T-5 this weekend.

Not sure. If the 2.0L Ecotec has the pattern on the block as the Ecotec 1.4T motor or close like the 2.2L 4cyl motor used in the Isuzu then yes. I don't know how to find this info. Maybe an Ecotec Forum?

The Gm transmission just seems like a simpler solution, should it fit. Probably more clutch and pressure plate options down the road too.

I don't know that it's any better, but one day it might be easier to buy or fix things.

What are the gear ratios for the T-5 trans? Trying to figure out if my suby rear end is a good choice. Thanks!!

The T5 was (is) used my multiple makers here and abroad. Here's the low-down on the Mustang variants. It should be pretty close no matter where you source your T5, but there might be differences too.

Mustang T5 history/ratios (ratios in table) ==> http://www.allfordmustangs.com/Detailed/349.shtml

Cheers,

Lonnie

Yes the Isuzu bell housing bolts right up. All holes in the block line up perfectly. The oil pan bolts do not. Not sure if this is an issue. I can drill and tap two additional if necessary in the oi pan flange. I will also have to fab some covers for the gaps to keep the crud out of the clutch area.

JMO but if I could get all the cast iron bolted up I would skip the pan. And then just build the cover for the gap.

Looks good. It makes me think of pulling my 5.0 and go 4 cylinder ?
