I finally made the decision. I picked up a 2007 Acura TSX-S 2.4l 205bhp engine on Saturday (K24A2). I struggled with the 4 cylinder/V6 choice. But I think the 4 cylinder is a better choice for the car, especially as it's probably 50 pounds lighter that the Miata engine it replaces. It was a good deal that became a great deal. It was a local seller, so I made an offer for cash saying I would drive over and pick it up on Saturday. The original price was $1600. I got him down to $1300, if he removed the parts I did not want, AC, PS, inlet and exhaust manifold, throttle body. Just leaving the alternator, started, coils and harnesses. When I arrive at the agree pickup time, he said he had not found the time to remove the parts I did not want, and he had a dinner date so I could have the entire engine for the agreed price. Hopefully that should put my final price below $1000. This is the most desirable of the K series motors that is available in the US and not a JDM, so I am real happy. I will be ordering the adapter plate this week so I can start the process and see when engineering is involved. I think engine mounts, maybe move the lower frame cross member forward and hood clearance are the only major issues.
I will open a separate thread to document the actual install process.
