As mentioned you need to have clearance from the tire too, not just the wheel. 1" minimum clearance in worse case suspension location would be my recommendation. Don't forget to include the fender thickness and bolts and washer buildup too. That would pro'ly add another 3/8 " - 1/2" or more per side required clearance. This comes into effect only if the tire tread is nearly as wide as the widest bulge of the sidewall. The latter is also variable based on the width of the wheel.
Some of us were surprised when we put the brake caliper on later in the assembly process. So watch that you have clearance for that and the parking brake cables too.
