3 cylinder 900cc 200bhp in stock form. A nice feature is all the ancillaries are within the engine, water pump, oil pump and alternator so no front belt drive. Hooking up a trans could be interesting.

The source vehicle looks like a fun SxS
Curious how its trans would hold up to automotive/on-road use, or if it's geared for too low of a top speed.

The base model looks to only have a 135hp turbo 900cc
No performance figures listed on the CanAm site, but says CVT w/ P, R, N, H, L gears.

All I want is to know what "CL2" coating is.
Too much use of acronyms leaves a dearth of useful information.

I think its `DLC` that would be Diamond Like Coating

I put on my heads phones and turned up the volume.
Now it sounds like TLC but with my lousy hearing DLC is probably correct.
This is relevant to me as I am trying to find the best coating for the lifers in my Europa engine.
There are many to choose from so the "Best" may turn out to be the one that is less expensive to have applied.

EDIT: Looking into it I find cautions to never use DLC lifters on a cast iron cam.
Back to looking at other coatings.

Take both the cam and lifters to a tool shop and have them check hardness. Both should be within a couple of points of each other relative to hardness. [low 50's] Also have then verify lobe taper and the radius on the lifter foot. 90% of failures is either because of the lack of lifter rotation and/or enough zinc additive in the oil.
[Rockwell "C" scale]

Renault 807-TS engine has the cam/lifters as their weakest link.
A "Hemi" push-rod engine that will turn up to 8K RPM without immediate destruction.
The mushroom foot lifters and cam go away at too low of mileage.
New cast cam cores are no longer available so I am looking at the best way to preserve what I have.
I will set a rev-limiter to 7K to save not only the cam but also the crankshaft.
Lots of available coatings but most are at a ghastly price for only eight pieces.

The cam and lifter contact pressure is very High! That why the required hardness. If you cannot find a cost affective coating, probably the best insurance is to use a motor oil with a high ZDDP rating. Most modern oils will not cut it because the of reduced ZDDP requirements when you have a catalytic convertor. I would suggest that you use an oil like VR-1, which has about 4 times the ZDDP additive, then your typical modern motor oil. Cheap insurance!

I had a new, flat tappet cam fail in the 90s due to not being ground on a taper.
