So after going back and forth over the past couple years about my project, I've decided to sell. Its been sitting for too long, and I've come to the realization that I just won't ever have time to complete the project - at least with enough time to enjoy it the way I want. I've spent almost a year just getting the engine build completed, and its not done yet so I've decided to buy a classic roadster that's in need of some TLC. Pics of the various parts are at: http://photobucket.com/locost_build.

Here's what I have available. I'm aiming for as close to $2500 as I can get for the whole thing.

Chassis parts:
*Book build frame
*Front A-arms
*Rear arms for solid rear axle
*Nose cone
*Scuttle

The overall build was pretty good - not done by myself but purchased from a similar failed project not long ago. It was originally designed for a suzuki power plant, but I wanted more power so started to build it up based on a BMW 3 series from the 1984-1992 era. To continue down the path of the 3-series, slight modifications would be needed to the chassis - just haven't gotten that far yet.

Drivetrain parts:
*BMW M42 Engine - this is a 4 cylinder from a 1992 3 series. Block has been reconditioned, and head has been shaved and new valves installed, cleaned, etc. The project would come with cleaned pistons, rods, new bearings for the mains/rods, as well as lower and upper end gasket kits. I have 2 cranks, and 2 sets of pistons (both would work). One set of pistons is slightly different to lower compression slightly for boost (supercharger not turbo levels). The other is the stock set, and would put compression around 10:1. I have new rings for the lower compression pistons but not the factory pistons. The main bearings have been modified slightly to fit the block. The original mains had only 180 degrees worth of oil passage - the updated ones have a full 360 degree but needed to have the notches on the block side shaved slightly to fit, otherwise, no other changes are needed (they can be used with either crank).
*BMW e30 M3 Differential - this is a larger pumpkin than in the original e30's to support racing the original M3. The ratio is also higher - 4.10 versus the original 3 series which were between 3.64 and 3.73. For this car its probably overkill, but I had it from my original e30 so kept it for the project.
*M42 intake, airbox, main harness, fuel injection rails, etc. Pretty much everything should be there less the fuel pump and fuel tank.
*M42 matched getrag 5-speed tranny w/short shifter linkage
*E30 driveshaft
*E30 half shafts

I've already invested close to $1k in the engine rebuild and parts and it wouldn't take much to get the engine running once assembled. I also have an SMT6 engine management module that was going to be used to tune things with a megasquirt system, but a stock engine management module would work - a stock ecu is not included though.

Suspension parts:
*AFCO Coilovers - springs not yet purchased
*E30 Front struts (had intended to modify to accept A-arms and steering shaft)
*E30 Rear trailing arms (had intended to modify to accept newly designed rear suspension arms)
*Ford Escort Steering Rack (European) - had planned to flip for rear steer - perfect size for Locost

Other parts:
*Italivata Steering wheel - 350mm
*E30 steering column, key assembly, etc.
*E30 emergency break components (except wiring)
*E30 BBS 14" basketweaves
*Very small radiator and fan (from original project - unknown make/model but it fits nicely)
*E30 Oil cooler components

Essentially this is a pretty complete donor package - just already broken down from the donor. You'd need to source a few things still, such as pedal box, brake booster, other electrical items (guages, etc.). Most of the car is there. Prior to my purchase, the car was rolling but to use the E30 drivetrain, a few modifications would be needed to fit the tranny/engine. I still have some of the original parts from the prior owner that will go as well. These include the original front spindles, and rear solid axle, arms, etc.

I'm located in MA, 10 minutes from the intersection of Rt 495 and 290. I'd prefer to sell this to a single person. I will be posting pics and then a final price for the entire package later today/tomorrow (need to go through receipts, etc.). But in the meantime if someone wants to make an offer, feel free to PM or email me at dcteague at comcast.net. I am only posting in advance of pricing to answer questions that some may have.

My build post is at: viewtopic.php?f=35&t=2785
The original build is at: viewtopic.php?t=922

You're on the wrong side of the country. Otherwise, I might've been interested. :(

I'm in Worcester, Mass. But seems your project is going away from what i'm looking to do. Might like to take a look at what you got.

Do you still have your project car for sale? I am in East Windsor , CT not to far away. Would be interested in taking a look at it soon.

Thanks
