I see what you mean about Amazon. OUCH! I have two questions. Where is "up here', and how does "$25 + shipping sound"? By that, I mean actual shipping cost, not Ebay/Amazon shipping!

Woohoo, another Winnipeger. We're gonna be the locost capital of Canada in no time! Can't wait to have some direct compatition for AutoX (last events this coming weekend).
PM me. I have all the books. I have no desire to sell them, but would be happy to lend any of them to you.

That could work, too. I'll wait! In the meantime, I'll check shipping rates. Better check the exchange rates, too. :)

Former Tanner book owner here. I sold it (gave it) to someone here, but my CRS syndrome has kicked in and I can't remember who got it.

Having said that, I was a fan of Tanner's website back in the the day, and quite frankly, if you've seen the website, I think you've seen most of his book?

Helogunner, In truth, I must agree with Tim. The http://www.cheapsportscar.net website does contain the same info (possibly more) that you would find in the book. The book is more inspirational at this point. It's something that you can leave on the coffee table and quickly grab when you need to show what you're doing to a friend without having to fire up the computer and navigate through some of the 'fluff' that Keith includes in the website. The choice is yours. My feelings will not be hurt should you decide not to make the purchase!

One thing that doesn't get mentioned often is that the Tanner book doesn't contain any plans. It's more about what it took to build a (now non-existent) kit. Some of what he experienced lends itself to Locosts and some doesn't.

I suppose that could be said for many books, but fortunately we don't require every book mentioned here be 100% related to Locosts.

In defense of this (sadly) out of print book, may I point out that...

1. The fact that we all know which book is being discussed here is evidence that it's relevant to us (and before you say, "Duh, the subject is 'Keith Tanners Book', what else do you need to know?" note that Keith has three other books; google <amazon keith tanner>).
2. The kit Keith built from didn't have any plans either. It was a collection of parts needed to build a Miata-donor Locost, in theory; a book frame with modifications for Miata rear suspension parts (modifications which required a fair bit of re-engineering by the builder), and the body parts.
3. "Plans", such as they are, are available from other sources, but there's not much out there about what you do once you have your chassis built and your components collected. Good thing we have LocostUSA.com or we'd all be lost.

OK, Helogunner, here's another angle on this whole deal. While Keith's book does document "what it took to build a (now non-existent) kit", If you wanted to build that same kit, you can probably source most of the needed stuff from Jack here. As I said before, buy my book or borrow one from Chris, no hurt feelings either way you go. I'd just like to see another build underway.

Helogunner, TimP, cboettch and egoman....

With a new local "member" of our club it looks like it's time again for a wings night or a garage crawl. What say you fellow Winnipegers? What works for everyone?

Sounds like a great idea Bill. It's been far too long. If it wasn't for the vintage weekends in Gimli we'd never see each other (I Have some great footage of me catching and passing the Ford GT40 on track ). We'll have to have JosiahP along as well. He's co-driven my car at a bunch of AutoXs this summer (making claims his Miata is broken, and we know that just doesn't happen) and he's committed to starting a build.
