Hey guys.. just asking you to keep your eyes open for an Allstate one wheel trailer for me.. If you know of one for sale, or see one come up, please send me a PM.. I'd like to stay away from the totally rusted/rotten ones- but then again, I can't afford a fully restored one either.. They're rare enough that I can't be too picky, but this will likely land in the 'someone needs it gone, and it needs some work' category (*btw, I'm on the west coast)..

Below are some pics of what I'm after.. they tend to be popular with the VW crowd..

Thanks

Good luck. We had one of these when I was a kid. Crazy hard to find now.

The big selling point on these trailers (besides their light weight) was the ease of backing that they afforded. I also recall someone (maybe not Allstate) making a heavier duty model with twin castering wheel assemblies.

There's a two-wheeled version near me, but the price...

I initially stopped to look at it as a possibly cheap trailer for towing behind a motorcycle, but the almost-$3000 price tag floored me! Granted, it's in great shape, but...

Yeah, this one's going to be tough and take a bit of time to find.. you still hear stories where "It's been in the yard for years and we thought we'd take it to the dumps if you don't want it".. // to // "Fully restored, found in King Tut's tomb, gold plated, and priced accordingly.." If I end up getting one, it will come from somewhere in between

Doesn't look like it would be all that hard to make one, depending on how much radius you wanted on the side pieces.

I'm here to kill my own thread :leave:

While I still think these trailers are super cool, I had a heart to heart talk with the sweetie Mrs. Ccrunner, and she's given the green light for my next project to be a bit more involved than one of these.. so while an Allstate trailer may come back to the forefront for me one day, in the short term, I'm going to satisfy my project jones in a different way..

thanks-

ccrunner

I just had the 2 wheel version of that show up in my local feed yesterday, but by the time I could call them it had sold.

Found one https://www.barrett-jackson.com/Events/Event/Details/1957-ALLSTATE--TRAILER-214636. Down side is that the VW it is attached to comes with it, or was it the other way around?
You know it is going to be $pendy.
