Locost McSorley 442E Rolling chassis to build a Lotus 7 Replica. $1700 OBO

I purchased the frame from Kevin Brister and did not do much with it other than buy more parts. The transmission tunnel was partially cut out when he was going to go a different route than a rotary engine, that part of the frame is still present and can be re-welded, or adapted for your drivetrain.

Includes everything pictured, here are a few highlights:

- Speedway Motors upper control arms
- Mustang II based front brakes and spindles
- 2x Mazda 13B rotary transmissions
- QA1 single adjustable front shocks
- Aluminum seats – cut to be low back more vintage look, have the top part if desired to make full back.
- Aldan American single Adjustable rear shocks
- Dana 35 Rear axle (wrangler) with disc brakes (grand Cherokee)
- Spare 4.11 gear set
- New Aluminum Radiator
- New Keep It Clean wiring harness for lights, turn signals, main power distribution)
- Spare steel for the frame
- Wilwood steering rack
- Mustang Wheels w/ old tires (would want to replace tires once driving)

Not pictured I have a pile of receipts and other documentation as well.

Wonder if I could get a Buick V6/Muncie to fit without drastic measures?
Somehow I have a lot of Buick V6's, threw away the Mazda rotary I had years ago.

My frame was basically the same dimensions. And The builder had fitted a SBF/T5 in it. I decided to go with an MGB which is even taller! It is 24" bottom of pan pan to valve cover.

I don't think you would have any problems fitting a Buick V6! Though I would consider using a 5 speed trans behind it. OD plus easier to hook up a hydraulic clutch. Always been a fan of the Buick V6!

Despite being much older Muncie/T10 are easier to find than WC T5 V8 Camaro units.
With such light weight I expect that taller rear gears will work just fine.
Now if I could just get the "Check in the mail" to SHOW UP!
Also need to get the engine for my truck back together.

Petty annoyance #642 of the day.
Looking to see if the D35 would be strong enough for an about 200 HP/200 Ft. Lb. Buick V6.
Web is useless, I am not looking to go off-road with 36"-44" mud tires.

So, anyone here have an idea if the D35 would work well?

I also happen to be into Jeeps and own a YJ wrangler that used the same axle (not this specic one though)

In the wranglers the 4.0 made 180 hp and >200 ftlb of torque, and with that inline 6 that torque is low in the power band. They survive well in those until you start going 33-35" plus on tires AND get abusive off road, most people were breaking them when getting a tire wedged between rocks then giving too much throttle, or letting it "bounce" while climbing alternating between high traction and 0 traction.

From experience even a 33" tire is getting pretty heavy (a 33x12.50x15 BFG Mud Terrain tire is 58lb! without a wheel), it is just a lot of rotating mass, with locost wheels/tires, even sticky ones it should be a lot better.

That wrangler also weighs ~3000lb+, so just the reduced weight along of the locost should really help. The other plus side is that you can find other dana 35s/spare parts everywhere cheap since those wrangler and cherokee owners like to swap them out.

I think I want this, which means it will sell just before the money I am waiting for arrives.
I am not asking you to hold it for me as I do not have definite date for my funds to show up.
In theory they are already overdue, but with Gov. being involved no one can predict when I will get them.

Yes, overall length is 118" (confirmed with a rough tape measure measurement)

Yes, the frame will roll, I was just too lazy to put the wheels on for the pictures. It is also pretty quick/easy to pull the A-arms and axle and be in 2-person manageable parts

No first hand D35 experience, but it's a 7.5" ring gear. Most likely similar-ish in strength to a Ford 7.5. The Ford 7.5 holds up to ~200hp V6 in (relatively speaking) heavy Mustangs just fine, and IRS 7.5's were used in the original 302 powered Monster Miata kits...So my gut says it should most likely be more than fine in a mild V6 Locost.

OK, so it looks like the diff should be fine for a Buick V6 so long as it's not being hammered with drag-race runs and sticky tires.

The Buick V6 is 4" wider than a SBF.
Width should be the same as a 215 aluminum V8.

Suppose I could find a Suzuki 1.6 16V and rebuild it.
