Locost Seven Clone

I am selling my Locost autocross racecar, I am building a D-Prepared Miata, so it needs to go. It was originally built by Gene Young, but came with much of the bodywork and mounts removed. I've since built a new rear subframe and reattached all the bodywork and raised the column and shifter for a larger driver. The AIM digital dash in some of the photos is not included. New tires arrive next week and if I still have the car in late July, I'll run the Houston Divisional on them.

I am asking $7500.00.

Lots of spare parts are included, carbs, electrics, gears, additional rear axle, original bike gauges, factory manual for the bike, CAD drawings, suspension drawings, receipts, ect. One of the reasons I bought this car was the brilliant suspension. The front arms can be adjusted without removing anything or even raising the car. The rear has extremely low roll center and the combo and works brilliantly for autocross.

Originally finished in 2003, modified continually since.
Standard “Book” sized chassis
Right hand drive
Paddle shift 6 speed sequential gearbox
13”X10” Diamond racing wheels
20”X9”X13” Hoosier slicks
20”X9”X13” Hoosier rains tires, with wheels
Tilton dual master cylinder racing pedals
Current weight with all the bodywork back on is approx. 940lbs.

Rear suspension
1st. gen Mazda Rx-7 axle with LSD
Adjustable three link, with Watts link
Double adjustable coilover shocks
Wilwood Dynalight single calipers

Front suspension
Fiero spindles.
Fully adjustable tubular control arms
Wilwood Dynalight single calipers
Woodward custom racing rack and pinion, with changeable ratios
Inboard double adjustable coilover shocks

Engine
1993 Honda CBR1000f
Custom car header
Pod air filters
Loud and less loud mufflers

The two attached photos are from the Dallas National Tour and show the car how it currently looks. Additional photos of the car showing it's details are in my gallery.

Looks like a bargain, where's it located?

PS--I truly admire (pity there's no emoticon for 'truly', but trust me, I mean it) you offering us pix that include cones fleeing in terror. Lots of guys can't laugh at themselves, and treat autocross like it's Serious Business. Good luck with the Miata.

That one through the nosecone is awesome! :)

I always dress the same as my codriver and let him use my full face helmet, so when pics like that pop up I can say it is him.

Seriously though I think that anyone who has autocrossed much knows that if you don't generate some cone carnage every so often, you really aren't pushing your limits.

Awesome deal on a sweet car. I doubt you'll have any trouble selling it.

Located in Clear Lake, near NASA just a few miles from downtown Houston.

I occasionally hit cones. I was at that tour as trophy filler. I had torn my ACL the week before AND was on 50+ run tires. I walked the course on crutches. Those two photos were in a short sweeper that I overcooked and took out cones going in and out.

I'll have it in San Antonio at San Antonio Raceway on July 13th.
Next event will be in South East Houston at Gulf Greyhound Park for the Houston-South West Divisonal.

I'll have fresh tires on it and can offer test drives at the San Antonio event, or a co-driver arrangement at the Houston event.

I like that car! The emphasis on function just appeals to me. You'll always find people who spend more on paint and polish, but that car has adjustable front roll center... Modernbeat could you post a front view of your car so we could see where a car with an adjustable pickup point for the wishbones landed being set too?

Is this what you're looking for?

I've got lots of detail photos in the gallery.

Last minute change of plans regarding this weekend. I won't be in San Antonio. I'll be in Ft Worth at a Texas Region Event on July 13th. This will be at the Texas Motor Speedway Bus Lot. http://www.autocross.com/tr/modules/con ... .php?id=17

Co-drives or test runs are still available despite the change of location.

Recent photo with the front fenders installed to be all-the-way legal for my class. This car gave me adrenaline shakes after all eight runs at last week's Houston Divisonal.

I keep wondering and I missed you in Houston, but why is the car BM?

Did they change it the other year cause of the bike engine? I just have never really looked into it, and keep missing you at events to ask.

Yep, bike engined cars can only compete in B-Mod and A-mod.

You can catch me at the Houston SCCA event on Aug 3rd at Gulf Greyhound Park. I'll be there all day.

Woo hoo! It's sold and I bought it. I've wanted to experience the BEC thing for a long long while, but I have too many projects going to build my own and it just made sense (as much as anything Locost-related makes sense) to buy Jason's. The plan is to make it street legal (WHAT?!?!) to show the performance range available, since my other Locost is a TEC.*

Jason brought it as far as Bonneville, and I drove out with a friend and flat towed it back, all in the space of a 2-1/2 day weekend. Zoomed around in it some yeaterday; great fun to drive, plenty of torque, no need to abuse the clutch, and light enough that reverse isn't much of an issue. I like it.

*tractor engined car

ACK!!!! I should have asked Jason bring back a full set of Kinetic fiberglass

... had I known that you were driving to Bonneville too, Jack

(FYI, Jason is my neighbor.)

But congrats Jason and Jack, I think this was a win-win sale. :D

So when is KV going to offer a trick pushrod suspension? I imagine you have already done a detailed examination of this one and have come up with some improvements.

Nice score Jack. I'm glad it stayed in the Locostering family.
